I'm trying to take the weight off of Eorzea (^_-).
What improvements can they do to this system? I dabbled in it, but I never got fully into it. I do know I would like them to make it more clear on how I'm raising my chocobo. FFXI uses hidden skill ups far too many times. Plus I think it'd be more fun to be more involved with chocobo raising, almost like you're raising another character.
Take for example doing actual quests with your chick. Maybe there's escort quests, or you can take the chick out to fight small fry monsters. Exercising the chick, feeding (of course), and increasing the skills you want to increase with an actual table so you can view the growth as it's happening. Involving the chocobo in actual combat would also give more variety. People wouldn't just want to raise the fastest chocobo ever. Perhaps you can have a chocobo who supports you, or fights with you. Maybe I'm thinking of raising the FFXI NPC ^_- but I think it would be fun.
This is all just ideas flowing out and me putting it down. Right down to the basics, I want SE to make raising chocobos much more involved (but not a daily requirement grind).
Let's hope this is included in FFXIV at some point and maybe improved upon.

I never tried my hand at FFXI's chocobo raising. I wanted to, but I also specifically wanted a blue or a green one. I researched how to do so, but the methods were all difficult, meticulous, chancy, etc. So every time I considered trying it, I put it off because I didn't want to invest an entire month's time just to get a chocobo I didn't even want.
If they have this return in FFXIV, I would hope that they make it a little more accessible, or not leave so much customization up to chance if they're asking you to spend a month on it.

I did hate the daily grind on Chocobo raising. It was always a pain to return to your home country (a problem they will remedy with the warp crystals in FFXIV). I spent a lot of time in Jeuno, or Aht Urghan. When I was ready to log off, I'd always remember I needed to check my chocobo. It was boring and took too long. Give me some interactive way of raising a chocobo. Then it will be fun

If they have mog house, you should be able to get your mog to look after it. You tell it what to do in the first stage then you have to visit to initiate the second
