Released on the 18th in America and the 21st in the UK and Europe, Red Dead Redemption is another game by Rockstar, the developers of the popular GTA series amongst other games. It takes the game engine used in the Grand Theft Auto games to the wild west; replacing cars with horses and endless city with small towns and ranches surrounded by desert. The towns all have their own feel and personality and the deserts aren't as empty as one might initially believe.

The characters are quirky and some goofy acting like you would expect in a R* game and most are voiced brilliantly, R* really did a great job selecting the voice actors. You'll explore and discover the vast world from the point of view of John Marston, a former criminal gang member. After getting off a train in Armadillo, you take control and you can follow the story at your leisure, or start shooting people who look at you funny =D

Other things to do in the game aside from choosing which side of the law you want to be on, you can capture and break new/rare horses, take on bounties, help strangers, search for treasure, hunt animals from rabbits and coyotes to bears and cougars, play various mini games like; poker, blackjack, five finger fillet, arm wrestling as well as others... there are many things to acquire or collect as well, such as new outfits, guns, plants and animal skins... There is loads to do to occupy your time!

Has anyone else got this game?? Though I'm going through it slowly, I'm having amounts of fun with it. There's always something to do even when you have nothing to do! I love to explore the land and help the strangers I meet and hunt for scraps for new outfits... The story is good and I like the pace of things... It is definitely worth the $60/£40 price tag. Though I got it for a grand total of £0.00 cause the cashier forgot to scan it after taking it out of its security case and just handed it to me... I didn't realise till I got home and checked the receipt xD

If you don't have this game yet, are you interested? Any questions about it? What could I say to make you buy it cause... Its defiantly worth a buy. This games to me is much more fun than any of the GTA games... and by the way... I'm someone that absolutely hates shooter games xD

I didn't care about this game at all, as I knew it was similar to GTA. I like GTA, but I get bored of them quickly and have never completed one. However, I keep Reading good things about this game, and I watched a video review of the game on First Play Episode 009...and it does look pretty good! I think I might pick it up at some point. I've bought God of War III though, which should be arriving on Monday, so this will have to wait until I've finished that.

Can't believe you got if for free!

This game was way too good to pass up, I put like 40 hours into it in like a week and hit 98.9% completion. It does seem to have less content than gta4 but it's not neccessarily a bad thing because now it's actually possible to beat lol. Just alot of fun, story is great, ending blew me away.

As bear said, It may have a little less content but I think thats because they try to keep it true to the time, 1911, which it great. (count the stars on any american flag in the game.. there will be 46 stars..) I also think GTA give the illusion of possesing more content than what is a avalible with the many buildings/streets, cars and weapons.. I don't think R* could have added much to the game except more story missions and strangers.. They did do a really good job I think =D

I've heard good things about the ending (though I don't know details) and I cant wait ~~ <3

Bear, I wonder.... Do you share the same love I have for the Lasso? Its... Awesome xD

I obtained 100% in four days and while the game IS amazing its really only worth a $10 rental. Games these days never have enough content to justify $60. It does have an Online component but that got pretty boring with lack of things to do as well. The lasso was pretty awesome; dragging criminals behind your horse or leaving someone hogtied on the railroad tracks and watch the glorious splatter effects. They really nailed the feel of the wild west. And the ending was freaking awesome.

One thing I do recommend doing Online: Form a really large posse of 8+ people, obtain a large bounty on your head, then have everyone go to El Presidio, man the walls and cannons, and fight off the attacking Mexican army Alamo style!
