Does anyone else read the manga or is currently reading it? I read it every week (along with Bleach, but that will need it's own topic).

Or do you only watch the anime? I watch it every week as well (unless it's a boring filler then I'll watch it when I'm bored).

I have been really enjoying it in the last few months, there is a lot going on in it from:(manga Spoilers)

What do you guys think is going to happen?
How much longer do you think it will go on?
What was a shock to you in recent chapters/episodes?
What was your favorite scene/fight?
Who are you favorite characters?

So no one reads the Naruto Manga? Or does no one have any input? Even if you haven't finished reading it I want to hear some input.

I know Naruto is kind of a mainstream anime/manga and it isn't the only one I read but it is one of my favorites. I like the characters and there development through out the whole series and the story just keeps getting better and better.

I absolutely love Naruto! I just haven't read the manga, so I want to be careful to avoid spoilers from people who have/are. Perhaps a thread should also be made for the anime. ;)

Anyway, continue to mark your spoilers, please! I wouldn't want anyone reading something by accident that they never wanted to see.

My favorite characters are Naruto, Sai, Shikamaru, Kakashi and Jiraiya. Pretty much everyone, really. There are so many good characters...

Yeah maybe we could edit this to be Naruto in General, and I always try to mark my spoilers, I'd hate to ruin it for anyone. I actually just started the series from the beginning again. I'm on episode 15ish.

I used to like the anime, back before the year of filler (i.e, up to episode 135 iirc). Then I started reading the manga, and when I tried to watch Shippuden, I couldn't stand how long they took to do everything. I think I stopped around episode 30 or something.

Honestly, I just find the manga to be so much better. I stay up to date with it.

I have a love-hate relationship with Naruto, like Bleach. I think they're pretty good shows, but I...dislike...the American fans who only watch the terrible dubs(Purist weeaboo mentality I guess. I can't stand dubs period, but, y'know...what can you do?) and then harp on and on about how they're the best shows ever. They're pretty good, but come on...they're still just super-long shonen in the end.

I also think the dubs are horrible, I don't know how anybody could like how Naruto says 'Believe It!' a hundred times.

I also think it's funny hearing people say they love anime and you ask them what they've watched and you get the reply, 'Bleach, Naruto and Deathnote'. I mean I haven't watched nearly as much anime as some people but I don't only watch the mainstream ones and I defiantly don't watch the dubs.

I am a big fan of Naruto. I think Jiraiya is my favorite character along with Kakashi.

I've read through a couple of the manga, but have mostly watched the dubbed version on Cartoon Network here in the states.

I can appreciate the purist attitude toward the dubs, but when you don't speak Japanese the dubs can be nice if they are done well. The Funimation studios guys actually get some pretty great voice acting talent in my opinion and usually do a great job with their dubs. (although I agree Naruto saying "Believe It!" 10000 times gets really old :) )

I've watched plenty of anime in original Japanese with subtitles, but the subtitle translation can be just as bad as some of the dubs. That being said I have heard some really terrible voice acting in a few dubbed anime.
On the other hand, I'll never forget the first time I watched Dragonball Z in original Japanese and Goku sounded like a squeeky little girl! I was so used to watching Goku with a deep man's voice that it was hard for me to endure!

I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with only watching mainstream anime. Usually anime becomes mainstream because it's interesting and fun to watch, right? I understand what you're saying, though, Ch1efer.

Like Cid, I actually think some dubs are done fairly well. Though I also prefer the original Japanese voices in most cases, I have stuck with the English dubs at times because that's the version of the anime I saw first and I grew comfortable with hearing the English voices.

Anyway, let's get this topic back to Naruto. Perhaps someone should make another topic discussing the positives and negatives of subs and dubs.

All over it Eorzea. :p

But back on topic.

It's so hard to pick a favorite character, I mean I love them all. The character development in Naruto is extremely good. But if I had to pick, besides Naruto, I like Yamato, Kakashi, Jiraiya, Shikamaru and I am liking Sai more and more after every chapter I read.

Best fight scene so far which is in the manga only right now is the fight between Naruto and Pain. I wont ruin it for anyone, even by hiding the details with a spoiler tag might not stop you from taking a peek. Therefor go read it or wait for the episodes to come out, but trust me when I say an epic battle indeed.

Once I saw a clip of Naruto with the English voice.. I could never look at Naruto in a positive light ever again.

... Except I have to admit the PS3 game is visually stunning.. They know how to do DBZ better than DBZ does.. I wouldn't mind playing through the whole thing and enjoying the story too.. Thankfully I understand that there is a Japanese option.

I read Naruto every week and have been following the manga for a couple of years now; when I started reading it, it was just before the Shikamaru arc post time skip. I also watched the anime up untill I think it was ep 90 into shippuden.. when My old laptop started it's midlife crisis. Naruto has always been one of my favourites and entertained me since I first watched it.

I don't watch the anime anymore but, I Like The Dub. I watched the japanese version because it was further ahead and I wanted to know what happened... but when the Dubbed version of some of my favorite Episodes came out, I would watch them again. The ONLY thing I have against Dub is they edit it to shreds, that's it. Otherwise; Dub, for me, is best because...... I am englsh, I understand english. I read the Manga, I don't want to read the anime...

I Love Naruto bcause of the characters. There are so many different Characters and personalities, all with their own styles and techniques. I love how it was initially done, but since the time skip it seems to lose focus on so many of the characters. I really wish it would have taken more time to tell the story of some of the other characters... Like poor Tenten- she has amazing skills and yet we never see anything of her and her past in non existant.

My favorite characters are Shikamaru, Kiba and Shino. I'm also really fond of Chouji, Anko, Jairya and Tsunade.

I've loved Shikamaru since I first saw him and he impressed me so much during the Chuunin exam. I love how his fights are never the typical ninja fights that we get used too. Other ninja's like Naruto and Kakashi are all about flashy attacks, but with shikamaru; they're about using what he has and analyzing the enemy/ area and beating the opponant in his head before he makes his first move.

Kiba... I Love that he has a dog and that they fight together.. It took me awhile to realize that the fur on his hood wasn't his actual hair xD I love his mother and I love his fights... I think I like him so much because I myself am also a Dog lover =D

Shino... He's just awesome... I love his attitude and the way he fights... And I would argue that pretime skip, before Orochimaru met Sasuke, Shino was the strongest of the 9 original Genin [excluding Neji, Rock lee and Tenten]

I'll leave this here for now, but I look forward to discussing this Series in the future =D

One hundred filler episodes aside, I really enjoyed the original Naruto series. The time leap in Shippuuden was excellent and really redeemed the series as a whole (removed all whiny kids in a single move!) Sakura and Shikamaru are my favorite characters. Her fight with Sasori was incredible and like a previous poster said I enjoy watching Shikamaru's execution of well made plans.

Haven't read any manga and I can't wait to see an epic conclusion to all of this.

In the last week or so I have re-read almost all the manga again, I have done that quite a few times and it is the only manga I have ever done that more than once. I really do love Naruto. Finally a new chapter this week, wasn't one last week. It was a good one, anyone read it?

Well, I'm going to try to give his another bump. I can sum up the recent chapters in the manga as action packed and, Naruto kicks ass even more now. :D
