i am sure red mage is gonna be released due to this video below

Classes/jobs from FFXI are confirmed to not be in FFXIV anyways.

they maybe a class like red mage down the road it is not impossible but i will say this, t shall not be called red mage, it shall not fit red mage perfectly, none of the classes are from the same mold as they were in past Final Fantasy titles. even the most basic class warrior is now the gladiator a fighter trained in one handed blades and a shields, nothing more nothing less. but look on the bright side, not stay with pervious class type is a way to find new better ones.

As RDM is my favorite job from FFXI I feel the same as you. However, I really think SE is shying away from including the same jobs from FFXI. They may have similar roles. For example, they don't have dragoon they have Lancer. A enfeebling job has already been announced and it doesn't look like they have a "jack of all trades" job as of yet. But that doesn't mean we won't see one before launch. I hope so, for the sake of playing my favorite job again.

But I seriously doubt it'll be called Red Mage, or have the classic plumet hat and crimson armor.

I don't think RDM will be in this game. Don't both of the mage jobs both have a balance of black and white magic anyways? (I haven't looked into them much but from glancing at info that's how it seems).

So if you can just use skills from both mage classes anyways I'm sure it would be very easy to make a rdm to your liking. I personally didn't like rdm at all in xi so maybe that's why I am so drawn away from the mage classes so far lol.
