Hehe, there is no FFXIV vs WoW. Thanks God SE is not trying to make a new WoW. And prolly anyone seeking "The New WoW" will smash his/her own face against the crude hard reality, FFXIV is not WoW and hopefully will never be even alike.

they will be similar in some respects but not enough to say its a "wow clone" but if ffxiv becomes popular it will called by some as the "new wow"

I think the 'clone' part comes from the pure fact its an MMO. You could say that all first person shooters are clones. Different graphics but they are all FPS, you see a guys back, you run around shotting people, they are all clones just different names!

Rofl, that is nonsens ^^ that is like saying you would eat the burger i ate yesterday and just got rid off in the toilet if it had a nice presentation? Coz still as a matter of fact the same burger, it just changed a bit during the proccesing lol

I just hope FFXIV does not ever get like WoW is atm, and i think most WoW players and Ex-WoW players would agree with that. When i see all the diferences between the 2 games, i can't help it but be glad for it, i'm sorry.

WOW was good at the beginning.

I would hope for more of a DAoC. That game community was awesome. (I was on the prydwen server). Happy leveling my level 7 for the first time and someone runs by gives me some gold with the explanation of 'cos ' and runs of. Later on in levels someone gives me a magic staff drop they cant use as they ran by me randomly.

No trying to sell it at ridiculous prices.

In that game I didnt mind sitting at the first cross road of Muir Tomb with my lvl 40 bard and randomly healing lvl 13 parties in distress or rezzing people, and getting nothing back but the sense of community that helps each other rather then trying to rip each other off.

current wow players (the majority for that matter) dont want what most FFXIV future player want. they want WoW2 with better graphics and you guessed it more mounts.

its funny you say that because as you look farther back WoW was at first called an "EQ Clone". the term Clone though is not as simple as same genre because im sure you cant truly call something like EVE Online a WoW or EQ clone. Clone is meant to say its a rip off of the previous game an almost complete copy and past of the majority of systems and game content. thankfully FFXIV is not a clone for being vastly different with some features from WoW.

What ever game is coming out will always be called a clone of the current most popular I think.

Either by WOW-haters who where so mentally scarred by wow that they fear trying another game, or by the wow players themselves who think it impossible that any other game can exist.

Yohohohohohoho! truer words have never been spoken about online games ! the term will be used by those who want to belittle it like you say but every term has an origin an a meaning. apparently kids in middle school and high school now just use any insult as an all purpose insult, my cousin called someone a slut because HE said something stupid -.- . at least with FFXIV when people say its a WoW clone we will know enough about the game and the term to prove them wrong and if they persist we know they are just like the woman in the video.
