I would hate for someone here to start an MMO for the first time ask a question in game, get called a noob and look it up here

Well they can look the word up anywhere they want. Either way they will find out they've been insulted and should have been called a newb rather then a noob. And though exact definitions may vary; if you run a google search you'll find that its a word used FOR inexperienced players. However, a noob is usually inexperienced because of a negative trait or quality he possesses (unfriendly, unwilling to learn, etc). A newb is inexperienced simply because he hasn't played the game much yet.

Example:
A level 1 who doesn't know how to magic burst = newb.
A level 75 who doesn't know how to magic burst = noob.

I still cannot grasp why you think my definition is wrong (^_^ ;; )

Side effects may include: dry mouth, nausea, painful rectal itch, hallucination, and death.
Summoning is not for everyone. Consult your doctor before use.

Because you are only describing it from a single point of view and I see it mostly used in the other, ie when its not needed.

Add - A monster you weren't aware of or had no intention of fighting is now attacking you. Most commonly said during a "pull" in which you only attempted to pull one monster but all of his buddies decided to join him.

My favorite word to hear when tanking in the dunes double fishy's!!!!! ><

Can't speak for all FFXI servers or other games so I'll use some of the words from the two servers I played on in FFXI.

Link - Used instead of "Add" but the meaning is the same.

Aggro/Agg - Used to described when you get attacked by an "aggressive" mob by being in their detection range (i.e. "I aggro'd a Gobbue...). It can also be used to describe what a mob uses for detection (i.e. That mob aggros by sight).

Blood Aggro - Mobs that attack a character based on low HP

"Yoroshiku" (Usually seen in hiragana) - Informal way to say "Nice to meet you" that many Japanese players said upon joining with a party. (Just putting it out there though I mean no offense to those that study Japanese/ Nihongo)

mats - not sure if it was generally used but I used to run across it a lot. The word being the shortened version for materials referring to what a crafter needed to craft a particular item.

"zone it" - referred normally when a mob is chasing you and you change zones to make it despawn (despawning provided that its spawn area was farther than it would travel back and that another party member didn't get hate either by attacking it, resting near it, or healing you).

Though there are more, those are the immediate ones that come to mind. Thank you for taking the time to read my probably redundant post m(_ _)m

みなさん じゃね! (^.^)v

NoNametsu - I remember those bunnies *shivers* lol especially when I tried to solo Wild Carrot for BLU.

Close but just a bit outside! (Major league reference)

Linkshell = a way to communicate with your friends or group of people whom which you do specific events with. You have to either buy a link pearl from an NPC and pass them out to your friends and/or people doing an event with you repeatedly on a schedule (ie: Dynamis in which a large group of people gather 1 - 2 times a week and enter a special battle arena to fight specific things and get specific items.). Or you let someone else lead the way and just join them by asking or applying and getting a linkpearl from them.

Guildleve = A quest accuired from an NPC based on the ranks you have access to, and each rank has a different location to take the Leves to which are called "Archetypes". Those are the giant crystals you were thinking of.

Linkshells. But honestly, I see no difference between the two.
