Karaoke (????) is so ridiculously popular in Japan. It's pretty unbelievable, actually. For many people, a night out in Japan includes going to a bar/club for some drinks and then stumbling off to a nearby karaoke joint with a group of people if/when the bar they're at starts slowing down a bit. Each group of people gets a private room, too, so there's really no need to be embarrassed or shy about singing. There are all kinds of foods and drinks available as well! Alcohol included. It can be a lot of fun depending on who you go with. It can be a good place to take a date after dinner/drinks, too, if you're looking for a dark room and a bit of privacy (though there are no locks on the doors, so don't get too crazy ;)).
I'm not entirely sure if this topic has a point; I simply wanted to share a bit of what I've experienced and get your opinions.
Are there any karaoke places where you live? What are they like? Just an open bar with karaoke?

Karaoke every Thursday night here, and a few other nights but I don't know where they are. I never get up and sing, since I can't sing, but I do enjoy watching my friends. The only thing I don't like is when people ruin good songs. Some of my friends are actually good singers so to hear them isn't bad. But some people shouldn't even try. Although after enough beer into me I have almost tried to get up on stage, thank god I haven't... Yet...
