Is it just me or is the leatherworkers starting outfit pretty bad?? I think its the worst I've seen.

It's all a matter of opinion in the end, really.

It's plain-looking, as starter outfits are expected to be, but I don't see any real problem with it.

I actually know a fair amount of people who plan to muscle through crafting first before going into actual combat jobs.

But look at the headgear. For a female character it takes away your hair. The headgear is ugly. I know you can unequip it right away but...

Again, it's really all a matter of personal opinion and preference. Just because you think it looks bad, it doesn't mean everyone feels the same way.
