So with all the information going around lately these Hermes Shoes really caught my eye. I remember wanting strider boots and never being able to afford them. The stats on them weren't that great but movement speed increase was always something I wanted. Then they added Heralds Gators with CoP and again never dropped or couldn't afford them. What do you guys think? Think these shoes are worth reactivating your account for? Personally I say based on how awesome this buff was in 11 it's not too bad of an idea.

What do you guys think?

I think I would want full details on the boots before making such a decision.

For example, is there a limited number of charges to the boots? Can they only be used for a certain period of time each day? Are there any restrictions?

On the other hand, I know that the Botanist class has skills which temporarily increases movement speed while searching for gathering points (and they can be used repeatedly). Perhaps some other classes have similar abilities? Maybe the boots won't be as needed as they were in FFXI.

Uhmmm.. i don't know if it would be worthy to pay that for that pair of shoes. If you already have your FFXI account running, it would be nice ofc as it's an extra. But i wonder what would be the difference of time to get from A to B with and without the shoes. I dont think i will care for the shoes as i would love just to walk the all way and enjoy the vieuw. I will be looking very often to the sky as i walk around, lets hope i dont fall from a cliff... So no, i would not be paying for those pair of shoes, and who knows there will be a craftable pair of shoes with that kind of buff available later on.

If the effect is always continuous (no charges) then I see these shoes being a very important item to have. I see many situations where you'd be happy you had those boots; from outrunning your enemies, to getting on board your transportation a split second before it takes off, However, at the moment this is a PC only item and I have no idea if it'll ever make it to the PS3. Thus they are all but useless to me.

I also think these items will someday be available to everyone. It's just a hunch.

Hmm I don't know. If they continued the deal to the ones waiting for PS3 then I'd get it since I was going to play XI till it came out for PS3 anyway. If not then more than likely I'll miss my chance. Though if I was going to play the PC version and had the option of restarting XI [given that I wasn't playing it], then I'd say no. I don't know just doesn't seem all that worth it in my opinion.

Don't like the pointy tip either :P

Just saw this as well and not sure what to make of it just yet maybe those in the beta will be able to tell:

Bonus items given away in MMOs don't tend to be that great tbh. The boots would be handy if you were taking part in an in game production of Aladdin or something.

Saying that I'll probably have them. lol

Yeah but you're already playing FFXI. :P I'm getting them too but more because I can now feasibly play both games for a good price. Throw in Tetra Master and it would be perfect.

All I really know is increased run speed = very good. This is true in ANY mmo ive played. I reactivated my XI account to get them myself. If they end up not being worth it then no biggie... if they turn out to be awesome-o then I'll have mine. Either way I'm covered.

Seeing how they gave the land classes a movement speed increase ability at rank...5? meh I never payed attention. I don't think run speed should be a big deal as it was in XI, could be wrong though!

I really really really really hope they have a fun Chocobo system... intuitive breeding please!

Hermes Shoes increase run speed by 20% for 15 minutes with a 24 hour cooldown. The speed boost activates upon equipping the shoes.

As far as the speed ability from Land classes, it's hit or miss whether it activates (depending on point locations), isn't as fast, and is a very brief boost (like 10-15 seconds maybe). On the other hand, you can use it more often.

Can you use that 15 minutes in intervals? For example, equip for five minutes now, five minutes later, and five minutes another time?

That I'm not sure about. Haven't really tested it. Seems unlikely, though.

Perfect for running to those starting cities. Plus little gold pixie feet on a Lalafel look great.
