OPEN BETA TEST BEGINS

15 minutes from the time of this post the open beta will officially be open for business.

PDT: September 1 at 19:00.
MDT: September 1 at 20:00.
CDT: September 1 at 21:00.
EDT: September 1 at 22:00.
GMT: September 2 at 02:00.

At that time you can obtain an open beta registration code from http://entry.ffxiv.com/

When you receive your code, you must then register it under your Square Enix account.

The servers will undoubtedly be overloaded, so it's likely you will experience errors, server lag, etc. Please be patient.

I no longer intend to choose a specific server for this site simply because I don't want to isolate the members who may end up elsewhere. I'll post more on that later.

As for me personally? I am not yet decided.

I also read that the server names for open beta may be slightly different, but I can't verify that at the moment.

I have gotten to the page where I agree to the terms of the Beta agreement but nothing happens when I hit the Submit button. Anyone else having that issue?

Doesn't surprise me. I didn't even bother staying awake for the deadline. This seems a fairly common oversight for SE. My dark guess runs along the line of: Due to unanticipated server congestion the open beta servers will be shut down for a few days while we reevaluate our capacity.. or some such thing.

Did they not think their game would be popular?

Oh and:

Transferring your Character Name from the Open Beta Test to the Commercial Release-

As long as the World you choose in the commercial release is the same as the World you choose in the open beta test, you will be able to transfer your character name. If you choose a different World for the commercial release, your character name will not be transferrable. For details, please refer to the beta test site.

So we know that retail will have at least all of the beta servers.

I believe they have the congestion shut down everything, using google chrom I was able to get the the apply, but I don't think it would do anything. Explorer shows the congestion error message.

I'm getting the term page and the summit button is not working.
I have to stop trying not...my battery is about to die. Good luck everyone.

are you using explorer Anera? I don't think its possible to get to that page with explorer right now

Yea I got the same problem... Page just froze...

Guess I'll try again tomorrow.. Wonder if other regions are having this issue??

There's quite a bit of Final Fantasy history in that list of servers.

Besaid is appealing simply because it sounds relaxing. Figaro and Mysidia are nice because I love FFVI and FFIV. However, I'm rather disappointed there isn't a location from FFXII on that list.
