RECIPES DATABASE

http://www.beyondvan...fxiv/db/recipes

---

After a lot of hard work, I am proud to present you with our shiny new Recipes Database where you can submit new recipes, browse current recipes, report erroneous recipes, etc.

Although improvements will continue to be made, its foundation has been set and we encourage everyone to get involved! For full details on this new feature, how it works and how to submit recipes, please see the following thread:

http://www.beyondvan...cipes-database/

35 Alchemist Recipes have already been added so that you can get a feel for how things look/work.

Here are some sample entries:

I look forward to working together to build a great resource for everyone.

Be sure you jot down any new recipes you discover on your travels throughout Eorzea and submit them to our database if we do not yet have it.

Expect additional features such as this over the following weeks/months/years. ;)

As Hydaelyn said, it's very simple to navgate and it's a great new feature to the site.
there have been requests for a wiki for sometime, and though this isn't quite a wiki, its just as good and looks great. I'm really looking forward to what else is coming our way!

Thanks. ;)

There are just so many wiki sites out there, I thought it might be nice to try something different. This will probably be more time consuming, but it's alright. Step by step.

great work, but one question. Does this mean that SE is following the same crafting system as in FFXI, where we just have to mix and match, or divine the knowledge from the gods as to what materials to use to create an item? Are they not including a crafting panel, yet again, with a list of recipes and required materials, like every single other MMO does?

Not sure if they will expand and add the Recipes to the Guild NPCs like they did in FFXI but you do get some of the recipes from the Levequests both in the crafter quests and sometimes as a reward.

For anyone who might be curious, individual item commenting is also possible but not yet enabled. It will likely become available after the game's release. Members will then be able to share helpful information about certain recipes, the best place to acquire ingredients, etc.

There will be an individual item database later on where members can also discuss each individual item, but that's still a ways off.

Thinking I may just allow everything to be editable by anyone with over X amount of posts. There's just too much to approve and check up on as one person.

Really need some additional staff members as well, but that's another issue I guess.

I've got a question. I know that not everything needs to be filled out if you don't know a certain requirement, but what if you don't know what an item is called in the inventory? For example, a Levequest I completed gave me a Goldsmith recipe for a Copper Wristlet, which requires one Copper Nugget and one "handful of copper rings". I'm inclined to believe that "handful of copper rings" is not the name of the item in the inventory, but since I've never seen the item before, I have no way of knowing how it's listed.

Edit: For now, I'll add it to the list as is, but if someone could find the answer and try to fix it, that'd be great.

Ah, good point. I should address this in the instructions.

Please leave out terms such as:
"Block of"
"Handful of"
etc.

For example:
"Block of Animal Glue" should be "Animal Glue"
"Handful of Copper Rings" should be "Copper Rings"

I will make some updates to guidelines sometime within the next day or two.

Thanks. :)

You can find copper rings in the stores and just treat it as one item.

Careful with these items as they can be tricky.

"Copper Ring" are made by Goldsmiths out of Copper Nuggets and are worn on your finger.
"Copper Rings" are made by Armorers out of Copper Wire and are used to make Chainmail.
