First question, I'd like to make a macro to equip my Weathered Gladius, but I don't know what I'm supposed to type in to do so. And god forbid there be a list built into the macro window. what do I put in?

Second question. I supposedly learned Rampart as a Gladiator, but it's not on my list of actions and abilities. Same thing with Trunksplitter as a Marauder. Where are those skills hiding?

third question, where do I get a freaking shield?

now for the gripes. SE has had 7 years to improve on their game and learn from what others have done. Yet:
1) there is no crafting panel, its the same as in FFXI, where you just have to guess at what the materials are to make something.
2) why in the hell aren't the NPCs labeled? Should I really have to talk to every NPC in Gridania, just to find a weapons vendor? How about Joe Shmoo (Polearm Merchant).
3)Third, The map is barely labeled and you can't edit it to label it yourself

Im just an open beta tester, so according to the support desk panel SE doesn't want my opinions, so maybe one of you closed beta testers can do it for me.

Open the ability and traits panel, you will see a blank drop down box near the top with a down arrow. click that and click the class and the skills will populate in the bottom screen.

you can't find a shield, you have to make it or have someone make it for you.

My biggest gripe is the fact it tries to make my keyboard into a controller. I don't even know what or how to usemy mouse properly and if I do I go off running crazily. Very annoying controls.

you should really get a controller. Everything is so simple. the controls are 100% customizable.

Yeah it actually makes my mouse freak out when I log off and then I have to unplug and replug up my mouse and reboot my PC, it's that bad. Should have made it more normal MMO friendly keyboard/mouse setup :(

ya I agree, but one thing I've come to learn about square is that they never learn. You'd think the past 7 years would have given them ample time to evolve and learn from the pros and cons of other MMOs, but I guess not.

new question: whats the best way to farm wind shards? I have tons of every other kind, but wind shards seem to be rare, and the only ones I need.

edit: more gripes

1) can't auto sort the inventory, or even manually, unless im missing something.
2) abilities have to be manually reset to the action bar everytime you change your class, which is insanely annoying if you're grinding xp and trying to gather materials for your professions.
3) no chat channels to communicate with other players on a general basis. Is /shout even zone wide like it was in XI?
4)every action in the menu is slow and plodding. Let's make the game a little snappier.

Im sure I'll have more. those who SE is taking opinions from, please pass these along if you so desire.

Only played it a day but, If i can add my worries to some I share above:

1) the mouse is laggy and I can not have faith in where my mouse ends up making everything slow.
2) Need a quicker way to change weapons (mouse makes this worse)
3) Opening, on Gridania, but the space is VERY confined, like rooms with corridors and people are competing to see who can get to the mobs first, leading to
4) a type of kill stealing
5) had a hard time finding where to buy stuff (luckily found a friendly PC who told me)
6) a guide on stuff :) Ie i tried chopping a tree down and was conufsed by these diagrams and choices with no explanation.

So far, if 1, 3 and 4 are not addressed I doubt I will buy it on release. I am sure there will be solutions in release for the rest....

Anyone can confirm /^^

I think I'm with Sae. I don't mind trying to figure out stuff for myself, but when you can't even figure out how to get out of the town to start leveling then it's pretty bad. The mouse thing is horrible. It works fine for my hubby with no problems and then mine goes haywire and I can't trust either where it will go. I'm wondering if it's certain mice that just won't work with the game. Then when I log out of the game, my mouse won't work for windows and I have to reboot my PC. Today we are going to go get me a new mouse to see if that works and maybe get us both a gamepad. Even so, we may still not buy it. I realize this is beta, but the game is about to come out and I don't see any of this being resolved in this short space of time. The game is beautiful, and my hubby loves the graphics as well. We both wish it would work, we really do! Also the having to run around talking to every PC to figure stuff out, not knowing where to get quests. If you had never read up on the game, you wouldn't know what the heck is going on.

My mouse seems alot better atm. I think it changes as you log on and off. Only real worry for me atm is the areas being so confined

I am also still really stuck with whether to go Miq or Elzen. ^^

I have a cheap hello kitty mouse  Going to go get me a decent mouse and maybe tweak the screen resolution, etc and see if I can't get it to work. I'm not lagging at all otherwise when I'm running around so not sure what is causing the issue. Otherwise still on the fence.

Keep in mind that open beta is really limited as far as quests are concerned. I'm hopeful it will improve a bit with the release of the game (though part of me wishes quest NPCs had a marker over their heads like most other MMOs).

so does anyone know how to make macros yet? or where the best spot is to collect wind shards? I'd really like to skill up my armorer, but I cant without the wind shards.

Yeah, it doesn't really tell you to go get quests at this place, etc, no markers. You have to start talking to everyone. Then it won't start you in the path of how to get out of the city, just marks a random place on the map. Just confusing all around.
