Will progressing 3 disciplines at the same time be too much to work.
Eg. Gladiator
Miner
Goldsmith
or. Archer
Botanist (these are all potential characters)
Carpenter
or. Conjuror
Botanist
Alchemist
Are people planning to use this many disciplines or is one or two more realistic? Or are people planning on even more? Just a queery as i think of the most suitable character choice for me...

Welcome to Beyond Vana'diel Mako77,
Overall I will be using many classes in FF14.
At first I wanted to just play 1 class with 1 alt class. After playing open beta for a few days i notice that i have mixed in a few more classes. Mixing in classes has made the game more enjoyable to me. Which is what the makers of FF14 encourage us to do.

Its hard to say just how many is too many. I plan to work on 5 at once once retail hits. The majority of my time being dumped into Gladiator. During off time or when I feel like it I will Mine, Play as a pugilist, or work on blacksmithing or armoring.
It certainly divides up your time a lot to try to play more than one class fully. I have made very little progress in the open beta on my gladiator, hitting rank 8 sometime last night. I think it has been 6 days since I got in? Not sure, but I have been spreading my time thin across the aforementioned classes.
It really depends on how you want to play, While you can level a combat class constantly (until you hit fatigue) a crafting class needs both crystals and materials to function. These take time to get as well, and necessitate another class being played.
It also depends on how much you play. If you play very little you will be able to utilize lack of fatigue to level your classes rather rapidly. If, on the other hand, you play quite a lot, you will find it more worthwhile to work on another class while you wait for fatigue to time down.
I know that I am overloading myself, so 5 is too many for me.

i will kinda do the same, i will keep it with caster classes and do weaving and botanist aswell, yes it is a lot but it is i think a good combination. And taking fatigue into consideration plus being able to craft and repair my own armor, well... it seems a good idea to me ^^

Well thats good info. I think the three ive got in mind would be enough to satisfy my moderate playing time, knowing you guys have 5 and knowingly overloading yourself is fine in the long run. i might have 2 fighting disciplines to go with a hand and land
