I gave my friend my buddy pass and he attempted to play the game, but it had horrible lag. What can we do to make it run better?

OS: Windows 7 (64 bit)
Processor: AMD anthlon2 X2 215 (2.70GHz)
Ram: 3gb
fxcard: Geforce 8600 GTX

Would just upgradeing the graphics card fix the clipping and lag? 3 gb seems to be sufficent for low, and I dont know how good(bad) his processor is.

I would tell him to get atleast an i5 processor , and a nividia card with 720+ VRAM those graphics cards are around 150$ to 200$ though not sure how much it would cost to replace the processor though. Also I would look at the system config i'm at recommended system requirments and I still run lag if i have ambient inclusion checked so make sure that and cinematic is turned off. With those 2 things you should be able to run everything on high settings.

Try lowering the Buffer setting to half or so. That helped lag issues when Anera was trying to play the beta on my laptop.

Lowering the buffering setting to half will make the game much more runnable on low-end machines, but the graphics REALLY take a hit. We're talking worse-than-FFXI graphics. :(

In my opinion, if you really want to play, then being able to run the game is more important than shiny graphics. You can upgrade later on if need be.

The screen doesn't refresh right for me if I use anything but resolution for buffer. Like when I was trying to make a char, the dialog boxes wouldn't go away, and I couldn't even see my character to customize anything. I really hope my new laptop ships soon.
