Hello I am a huge Final Fantasy lover and HOPING to get to play FF14. I watch videos and have been fervently waiting for ages and the reason I say HOPING is because I don't have the hardware. BUT I do have a budget and am trying to find the right pieces for a desktop capable of running FF14 so...I'm hoping for the best, heheh...though it is overwhelming!

Welcome to the community, Soulzityr! I feel your pain...I'm also FFXIV-less at the moment. One of the people waiting for the PS3 release! I hope you enjoy your time here with us at Beyond Vana'diel. If you don't manage to get all the hardware then feel free to buy a PS3 and wait it out with me until March

I have a friend who plays FF14 with the following hardware :
Windows XP
Intel dual core 2.8 ghz
geforce 220 gt (not sure )
2 go ram ddr2
Grafics are not wonderful but still playable and he really enjoys the game.
maybe you should try with what you've got et see ...

.Well what I'm working with is an Intel with about 2.5 and NVidia 9600. Your specs actually make me really happy. I think I overspent then on my new comp, but it was still really cheap since I found amazing deals. Hopefully my new hardware will carry over for a long time
I had this computer for many years so I figured an upgrade is acceptable, aha. I just hope the internet connection will be able to hold

will ps3 and pc users be able to play together? I dont know how I feel about a ps3 controller playing an MMO, it feels limited :S

I am confirming, my friend is running the game with a Geforce gt 220 1024 mo ddr2 as a graphic card.
In fact, he is glad to be able to play with his config and he then plan to upgrage his PC on january during winter's sales.
Your 9600 series might be a bit short but you still can try it anyway.
And yes, both pc and PS3 players will play on the same servers .
