Hey folks,
I figure it's time to get down to brass tacks and actuals of the class. If you can, post any thoughts you have on the "live" and current set up for Archer. If you have any tricks that you've picked up that would be great also!

So far, I'm only rank 10 with the class and am loving the damage output of it. I've been able to kill yellow puk hatchlings and jellies with little problem (incorporating blood bath and second wind into my set up).
The main issue that I'm seeing is arrow consumption. Thankfully there is no auto attack in this game or this just might have been the most expensive class to play in mmo history!
As far as the replenish ability... "Yay! Free arrows".  The Refill ability is a little awkward. All it is, is a reload of arrows to your equipped slot. It seems like a bit of a pain to have instead of going the route of at least one other mmo, with a pool of equipped ammo, which pulls from the next stack automatically
I've always played melée DD/DPS in these games. Sam in ffxi and rogue in a few others.  Right now I'm trying to feel out the Archer and Marauder to see which I like more. This is actually turning out to be a tough decision, even this early in the game. Add in the fishing addiction that I'm already developing and this could be an interesting game indeed.

Trammel from Lancer (level 6 i think) is really awsome for Archer. Its a WS (500tp) that reduces movment speed and does decant dmg. Gravity from theurg can also be helpful (another movement reducer) gravity is a spell though so it uses mana, has a cast time, and unfortunatly if i recall correctly its a 1.5 minute recast subbed.

{sweets} I didn't even think about trammel. Gravity and slow would work great for those fast hitters and the occasional woops, I just aoe'd that Dodo in... Good ideas.

Did you play FFXI? The Ranger WAS the most expensive class in MMO history :) I like the refill idea of ammo, it is like you have a real quiver that you need to fill up instead of some insanely impossible extra dimensional pocket you keep pulling arrows out of. My friend's archer goes a more direct damage root since he always has me to hold threat. You may want to get bloodbath from marauder instead of second wind, it has greater potential for bigger healing (healing is based off of the amount of damage you do)

If you want to make your own arrows you'll need to go Botanist for wood and feathers, Weaver to make fletchings and Carpenter for arrow shafts and final construction. Finally Blacksmiths make arrow heads.

Yeh, I played ffxi from NA launch, lol and I'm still figureing this would be worse than Rng. If I'm soloing, it usually takes an average of 6-7 arrows to down a mob. So, thats?? 14 mobs on average per stack at 3k+ for the cheapest garbage arrows. But yeh, lol I think demon arrows are still going 150k+ per quiver on my ffxi server.
Also, I use both blood bath and second wind to off set the cool downs. As far as the refill bit...they need to at least add in some kind of count so I know when to hit refill. God, I sound like a noob Nin ><

Heh I suck at reading XD I think arrows are made at 24 per synth. and you have 12 shafts and 12 feltchings per synth from those parts, I think :D I think it'll be less of a hassle

I'm enjoying Archer a lot. XD

I think my only problem with making my own arrows is that I don't have the materials to make Fish Glue. I'm not a fishers and my Alchemy is not high enough. But I'm working on it. XD

From what I'm seeing in some of the information out there, different types of arrows synth in different quantities from 6 to 36. Unfortunately, I'm feeling like until we get through about another 3-6 months so that more people can get to higher levels (both in battlecraft and in crafting) it's just not going to be at all cost effective to make arrows. Right now to get better arrows than I can buy in the store (R17 Obsidian arrows for about 11k a stack) will take horn glue to make 32 arrows. The current price of horn glue is 30-50k each. That's 120-150k per stack of arrows. Now, I know arrows have traditionally been expensive, but at this point in the game I think that's just more than most people can handle.

So, I think it may take a little time before making arrows becomes more viable. Once we reach that point though, it'll be totally awesome.

That sounds pretty much along my way of thinking as well. Which is why I'm goin MAR for now, lol (besides trying not to get my hopes up on the data mined SAM that I heard about). I'll eventually go back to Archer. Leveling with handicapped damage output due to expense isn't my cup of tea.
