It won't be 300 in the US. It will be $250 or $279. You'll see.


It does seem a bit pricey, but this isn't just your average Gameboy.. It has so many awesome features, and the games are incredible.

Did anyone see the MGS3 trailer? WOW! And Super Street Fighter IV looks amazing, too.


I was hoping for a November Japanese launch, so I'm a bit unhappy with that, but since just a month later is the US launch, I'll probably go for that instead... Maybe. If I stay in Japan, I might get a Japanese one.


I'm really curious about the Wifine service... Get Wifi from anywhere without a hotspot? Sounds super sweet.

Yea, I don't doubt that it will be cheaper in the US. As for the UK...well, we always get shafted, so I'm expecting it to be at least £200.

Where does it say about wireless WITHOUT a hotspot?

Er, I might be a little confused on that.

The 'service' is called 'Wifine' but may only be exclusive to Japan as it's some partnership between Nintendo and internet service providers like NTT. I guess I don't really know the details. I was imagining some kindle like 3G type, always on' kind of thing, but I may be mistaken.

The only thing I'm not happy with is the screen resolution.. it just don't seem high enough for graphics this powerful.

With the announcement that the 3DS will be launching in NA and America in March I have updated the first thread with images of what's going to be in the box.

I want a 3DS. The ONLY thing that puts me off buying one is because Nintendo will no doubt release a slimmer, better looking model some point in the future. Just look how FUGLY the original DS was compared to the newer models!

I want one but I feel like I'd never play it. maybe way down the road I'll get one. In the mean time, I'll just continue being a pokemon master on my DSlite.

Even gameboys got slimmer and better looking, but I still love my Dinosaur Gameboy...

I might pick one up after all. What we know about the battery life (or lack of) can't really be taken seriously, as we don't know under what conditions the battery will last the estimated 3-5 hours. Is that on max settings? Medium settings? Lowest settings?

Kurisu, you could pick it up now, and in two years, when they release another version, you could sell your current version for 50 bucks less (on ebay, not to gamestop), and upgrade with little loss.


The DS lite was such a brilliant upgrade to DS fat because it was already lacking. I just have this feeling that 3DS won't see a second revision until 2 years has passed. I could be waaay wrong, but the device looks even slicker than the DSi, and is loaded with features.


I'll probably get one. Launch and early games don't look very interesting, but there are a few I'd like to get my hands on:

-RE: Mercenaries
-Dead or Alive Dimensions (reminds me of the PS2 game I was obsessed with. Haven't played a DoA since)
-Super Street Fighter IV
- and if none of these are out and I'm desperate for a launch title, I might pick up Super Monkey Ball.

and I'm a Starfox 64 fanatic, so I'd probably fall for that.. But I'm not decided.

Dinosaur Gameboy! I never entered the land of Gameboy (or "Playboy", as my Grandma used to call them by mistake :lol) until Gameboy Colour came out. I had it in lime green! Years and years ago my friends did have the original Gameboy though, and I used to use it over their house to play Tetris and Mario.

Momo, I guess you're right about eBay. I've never sold anything on eBay though, only bought a few things. I don't know how to sell stuff, but I guess I could try at one point.

The game I want is Ocarina of Time. I missed out on it in the N64 days, and I feel like I need to play it! Seeing as that's not a launch title I may wait for a bit.

Ebaying isn't too hard, but you wouldn't even have to do that. I'm sure you could find someone to buy it, like a Mom looking for a cheaper used system for their kid.

Oh! You should definitely get Ocarina of Time then. I played it on N64 with a friend, and later on a Gamecube collection, so I can see myself passing on it.

Honestly I haven't seen a killer app yet. I'm not even sold on Mario Kart just yet.

I'd love to see a Luigi's Mansion or a portable Smash Bros though!

You were right on the money! The 3DS will be launching in the states at $250, and in the UK at £230. Updating the initial post to show this!

I actually really want one of these though there is no chance at the moment with it at £230 ... that's so expensive xD My trusty DSlite was only £90 when I got it. Since I now have a job (though I haven't started yet) It will be possible for me to get one in the future, though I'd like to get a new laptop first as this one drives me crazy with it's cr*ppy keyboard.


Not sure what Games I would get for the 3DS when I eventually get one, but by then there will proably be a wide selection to choose from =D I'll prob get it in Black.. I don't like that blue...

That's probably the best thing to do. Plus, by the time you finish waiting, they may have released a model with a better battery life!

That is true! Though mainly all I would need is something so that it can hook up to my laptop and charge off of that as well. Then I would be okay with the battery life.
