Started this game as a pugilist, and don't get me wrong I've been having fun.

But then I went and started leveling Marauder. By the time i got to rank 12 (7 ranks lower than my pug at the time), I had more health, took less damage, and did more damage than my pugilist, without even upgrading the weapon! Seriously awesome, and can't wait to see how that scales as the ranks draw closer.

Only downside is all that AoE that starts in steadfast keeps pulling extra mobs I'm not ready for. Must...learn...CONTROL!

While I was getting marauder to 10, I had quite a bit of fun as him. Nice damage, Nice hp, Nice defense. But the marauder's ability layout is far more offensively based than what I was anticipating (Defender is really only good for a marauder, as the enmity buff will not occur on any other class (Yes I was leveling it for that) Not that the defense buff isn't nice, but my action points don't allow it yet).

I had a very easy time getting to rank 10 as well. I quite enjoyed it. (Which isn't saying too much, since I enjoy every waking moment logged in (Which is distinguished from my dreams about playing)).
Actions speak louder than words.

Oh, really? I would never have thought that at all! From all what I've read about them it seemed as if they were more full on attackers! I was going to start the game as one, but I guess this will make me change my decision. Of course I will flip back and forth from this class to learn new abilities.

When I say 'anticipating', it means just that. My uninformed thoughts on how it would be. Given that they have a 'stance' for standing still which increases their parry, and the 'defender' ability, I thought they would have bit more for survival and defense. Not that I'm particularly lacking those with gladiator and pugilist, but I had thought that defender would be of more use outside of the marauder (at the least, I'll have to see what later abilities they get).

Well, we don't have a Great Sword class yet, so I think it's entirely likely that we'll get one down the road.

I love great swords as well, though they may make the Samurai the two handed swords guru, and the only two handed swords around will be katanas. This is all speculative though :o the NPCs mention Far East so I don't see why there wouldn't be Samurai and other Far East classes again.
The amount of fun you have with a slinky is proportional to the amount of stairs you have.
Given an escalator, slinkys will give you infinite fun!

I think they can easily distinguish Great Swords and Katanas as different weapon types for two different classes.
