After restarting my computer 2-3 times, I managed to get the installation to finish. Now I'm trying to patch and on the FIRST out of two patches, I am at 10% after about half an hour. My download speed consistently says 0.0 kb/s

I'm running brighthouse internet from apartment so it should be pretty solid, i got confirmation from guys at gamestop.

How do I speed up my patch? everything is down/off. Is there somewhere else I can get this patch? Because I don't download slowly from other things.

Please help, I really want to play tonight so tomorrow I can just work in peace T_T

Unfortunately, the site I downloaded off of no longer hosts the files directly. Something or another...

http://www.ffxivcore...patching-guide/

You can see it on that thread, and you may also try what they suggest to patch your client.

Other than that, keep your client up, unless it tells you itself that it is not responding, even if it says it's going at 0.0 it may be twitching up to a byte or two. Keep trying.

Here's something to try. When you start up the game, right click the icon and select, Run as Administrator.

I had a problem like this and adding this simple step solved the problem completely.

There has got to be an easier way to get the patch. Use the downloader, i'm at 32.1% and have been downloading for 8 hours now. My upload speed seems to always be sitting at 40-60k but my download speed at max is 6.1k but spends 90% of the time sitting at 0k with only 1-2 people connected.

Took me forever as well. I just kept restarting the system when it paused for to long. Seemed to help. The issue is on SE's end. and it's a big one that needs to be addressed. Believe me though, it's not different than updating on WoW..lol

Something is seriously wrong with SE's updater. My recommendation is to use a standard torrent client to download the patch, then copy the file to the appropriate location. The link in Takhimar's post details the process quite well.

If you're using the torrent file in your FFXIV patch directory, I don't see how you're getting viruses. You aren't trying to find a download through google, are you?

Once you attempt to patch the game, the .torrent file appears in the metainfo folder in your FFXIV directory. All you have to do is open that file with your torrent client, let it download, and copy the resulting file into your patch folder.

Considering it's the official .torrent file, there shouldn't be any virus problems caused by this.

I download via bittorrent or utorrent and mine only take a few minutes.

When the FF patcher opens, take a note of the file name. Open utorrent/bitorent and File/open.

Just remember to swap the partial file with the full file in the FFXIV directory.
