So, probably out of place on a FFXIV site, but since 14 flopped in my/the world's opinion (maybe not in the opinions of the folks here) I find myself drawn back to World of Warcraft.

Patch 4.01 has really made alot of changes (for the better) in the World of Warcraft universe. Updated graphics and class tweaks have made the experience actually quite a bit of fun.

The lighting and water have been fully revamped, making things look very realistic, and alot of the areas feel very immersive and brilliant. I constantly find myself looking at rocky paths and the LOD trees in heavily forested areas, enough so where I end up getting myself killed.

The classes have been redone in such a way where everyone (kind of) has a way to regenerate health or mana using class abilities, reducing downtime and upping convenience.

That's really what World of Warcraft is, it's convenient. They make travel, combat, interaction, questing, leveling, all very convenient. For instance, being able to join up and run random dungeons at basically any level allows for you to focus on the team based aspects of the game. You could literally play most of the game in this scenario and make it all the way to max level. They also provide you with an abundance of single player action, to make your climb to the top. And, with cataclysm coming out soon, the grind from 1-85 is supposed to be much more interesting than before, however the grind from 1-80 isn't really that uninteresting to begin with (unless you've done it before).

One thing that FF players have never agreed on with WoW players, I feel, is open world PvP, which includes BS ganking, but there are normal servers which give ANYONE the option to duel, but not freely rain destruction on other players.

This is why I am inviting any of you here at BV to come play with my friends and I on the server Hyjal.

My in real life friends, Kyle, Cody, Mikey, and Lucas will all be playing together in a guild called "On Wings of Integrity", which is a raiding guild focused on ICC 10 and ICC 25 as well as many players from the server and including our own members Karari and Tindiil. Girseo also sounds interested in joining our brigade, if you're reading this we would love to have you =]

So, if you are interested in playing with us, feel free to reactivate your account and post your character information here for the community to observe.

Also, if you are interested in posting your characters from other servers here on the page, I will compile a list of players organized by servers, starting with Hyjal.

Is it an US server? i have the EU client ;) (so i can not join :P)
Well, yes the graphics have been twicked, but to be honest FFXIV looks a lot alot alooot better, trees for example <.<. The ground looks a lot better than it did, i went to the badlands and the ground seemed full of detail, loads of burned rests of what have must been bushes and so on. Of course, with the PC i have now is a piece of cake to play it on Ultra settings and i dont even lag in dungeons or bussy areas. And the spell effects <.< they are almost blinding ^^.
You are right, WoW is less complicated, they kinda balanced the craft system so that with 2 professions you can make the most of it, and of course there are recepies were we need mats crafted by other classes but is not much of a deal. It is convenient, ofc leveling costs a bit, and it would be a lot if i had to start everything from 0. Luckily i got a GM to restore my deleted lvl 80 chars and all their equipment ;) so i can expend some time questing a bit, making money, crafting a bit, and well it is fun.
Logging into FFXIV, made me feel sometimes very tired. Even to make a pair of shoes i needed several professions, and i felt like i was getting nowhere, leveling those professions got slower and i thought.... Mammieeeee!!!! :P It felt for me like working extra hours after i was done with my job, and finding parties did not go well either...
Finding a party in WoW is so simple as a mouse click, so i did some Heroic instances with my resto drood to get the latest set of gear atainable with the points they reward from killing bosses, of course there is one set higher than that one but i would have to do "some" raiding to get the tokens. I'm focusing atm on making munny ^^ still have some fliying skills to pay for my alts :P
In case you wanna check (i did quit in the last 2 years 2 times, so there are many raids i did not do, and dunno about joining a raiding guild yet)
Server: Anachronos (EU)
main- Blackfeather, drood resto (was Girseo before i changed to Horde :P)
alt- Evestar, pala tank, still need to get him some better gear, not so confident with my UI atm after 4.0.1 to tank HC's
(i have another alt, a lock but i use her seldom)

Edit, i leveled my pala just tanking from lvl 15, you get gear and nice exp, not to mention the practice to train skills.
Doing battlegrounds levels too, i used that to lvl mu lock ^^. Questing levels far more faster than it did before, at least to lvl 70 i believe, and helps to get some munny aswell, what may not be the case with instance or BG leveling, but you can always go to thr open field and kill everything that get across your path and sell the spoils to a vendor to make some cash ;) I made about 2000 gold in a day just questing my ass off with my pala last sunday and selling the drops to a vendor, just to get him the epic fliying skill.

Girseo, The latest WOTLK dungeons are alot of fun, if you ask me. Halls of Stone/Lightning are kind of a pain in the butt and nobody really likes doing them anymore haha. But, since you have a level 80 character you've really got two paths to take him on. PvP or Raiding. You could do both, as they act independantly from one another, but require an equal amount of time.

Learning to PvP has been one helluva challenge for me, I had never experienced PvP in an MMO till I played an 80 Warrior on Stormscale and it's VERY intense. I get the same adrenaline rush from PvP in WoW as compared to fps games like Counter Strike or Modern Warfare/Medal of Honor. It's a blinding fury when you step toe to toe with someone in a battle ground and have to drop your skills as fast and as tactfully as possible to make sure the opponent doesn't kill you. Stuns, Silence, Fear, ect are all very crucial PvP skills and being able to master the timing and the hectic movement and all the other elements is quite a thrill.

PvE, which I assume coming out of FF you would be find more interesting, is also quite a challenge to master. ICC 10/25 is a relatively complicated task, and not just a tank and spank like a dungeon. These things take time to learn and are quite interesting/challenging. It's almost impossible to run these raids without any UI addons, like Deadly Boss Mods. Generally speaking, you would have get on a voice chat program like vent or teamspeak to communicate efficiently with your teammates. Wiping is basically a formality. It happens. Alot. It takes a really well organized team of intelligent individuals to run ICC without a hitch and it's difficult to find skilled players like that randomly. Which is why I would suggest joining a raiding guild, but most raiding guilds might get upset you don't know the fights so what I do is go on youtube and look them up and figure out what my role would be in the group. This is partly the reason I extend the invitation to the folks here because I've grown to learn that we are not children and are very capable, intelligent people in this community. We could use more people like this on WoW.

It just came to mind, to expand on the graphics aspect, all of Azeroth STILL has the basic models and textures from vanilla. Places like Elwynn forest or Durotar haven't seen an update in EVER. With cataclsym on it's way, about to redo the entire world, the quality and detail will be more than we've ever seen in WoW, but obviously still following the graphical style of the universe.

Edit: There are videos on youtube of the beta (sorta) and the quality does line up with my hypothesis, at least in Orgrimmar.

^^ the first evening i played again, was just to install my healing (just grid and decursive) addons, configure addons, UI and check my new to be spec after 4.0.1 ^^
I know the drill for raiding, i just dunno if i'm ready to socialize again, after what hapened to my old guild (even if i got an invite to one of the top guilds of the server as people talked about me as if i was Jesus and could heal anything XD)
getting to knoe several tacs for raiding is also usefull, i used tankspot along with youtube. Even kept record of tacs for every boss, till it became so easy i just did not have to, only had to be awake <.<
My old guild Unbound was the guild i learned to raid, i was proud to be a member and work my ass off. After it broke down, i met a very nice and friendly top guild, if i ever get in a raiding guild again, my first choice would be that one. I was just to depressed after my guild broke down to have any fun playing, and i think i'm affraid to let that happen again (yes yes i'm a softie :P)
I'm tempted with the idea of getting to my old server (sunstrider) back to the alliance just go on where i left it.
