I realize that not everyone agrees on where the game should be in the next couple of months, or several years from now for that matter.

What I would like to know is how many of you would quit playing if the new development team made such drastic changes to the game where they had no choice but to reset certain things, or in other words "reboot and rebuild".

Would you be ok with starting over from scratch if it meant that the game would be much better in the long run? Granted I doubt it will come down to this, but in my opinion certain parts of this game are in need of a clean slate.

I would be nothing short of furious if all the time I've put into the game so far amounted to absolutely nothing. This is not an option if they want to keep the players that they still have.

I would agree. I stopped playing after the first 2 months due to well.. it just being boring. again i like this game and i really really really want to see them make it good as the previous one. and if that means i have to start from scratch for them to make this game what it should be and more, i would gladly be willing to that. hell, to be honest i wish they had just held on to the game for an extra year. still feels like I'm playing something that's obviously unfinished. I cant stress enough how much i want to see this game succes. hopefully the expansion will do it.

If Squenix were to ever wipe characters for a complete reboot I'm fairly confident 90% of players would leave for good. Even with the game's current shortcomings, I have put way too much time into my character just to see it vanish.

Well according to Yoshida we don't have to worry about characters being wiped.

"As a policy of mine, I would absolutely never do a wipe. While there may be adjustments that significantly alter the meaning of one's physical level or skill ranks, I would still allow players to reallocate their stats."

I kind of figured that if they did make any major game play changes that would require any sort of wipe they would compensate players for their time one way or another.

If they do end up making some drastic changes to the DoW and DoM classes, I personally would want to start over. Playing a job from lvl 1 allows players to learn the ins and outs of that jobs abilitys.

I can remember quite a few Ebay characters in FFXI that couldn't play there class properly if there life depended on it.

I cant see drastic changes, only tweaks to existing skills/adding/taking away.

I dont think anything means we should start from rank 1. You can easily learn a new class mid way if you take the time to solo/practice and not go straight into a group for your higest rank.

They can do anything they want with the game, no worry speculating about it. It would upset me though if I took every job past R20 for nothing. XD.. Whatever it takes to fix it is what their going to do and that's fine by me. I just want the game to be worthy of the name.

I can't imagine a scenario where existing players would have to lose their progress...

They could go so far as to turn it from FFXIV into Star Wars, and still they could simply transfer the accounts... make a lvl 20 lancer into a lvl 20 Jedi Knight...
Obviously this example is ridiculous, but I'm just trying to show that ANY change they desire to make could be "adjusted" in terms of the existing community.
