Introducing the NGP...

Sony have finally lifted the lid on the successor of the PSP, codenamed NGP: The Next Generation Portable. The device will be releasing at the end of 2011, with multiple models. The more expensive model will feature 3G support. Details below:

Key NGP features:

• Multi-touch 5-inch organic light emitting display (OLED) as the front display
  
  
• Multi-touch pad on the rear of the device
  
  
• Dual analog sticks
  
  
• Two cameras (front and rear)
  
  
• Software titles on small, dedicated flash memory-based cards
  
  
• Three motion sensors, gyroscope, accelerometer and electronic compass
  
  
• Wi-Fi and 3G network connectivity
  
  
• PlayStation Network access, including “”LiveArea™”, “Near” and “Activity” log features Trophy Support
  
  
• NGP will be able to play PSP titles, minis, PS one classics and video from the PlayStation Store, as well as all games newly released via PlayStation Suite.

...I mean, just look at the gameplay video I posted in the first post. You can almost hear it screaming "bank loan!"

Lol well I thought about pre-ordering went and got Two Worlds 2 instead . well a 50.00 deposit is nothing. Besides I was just going to put at least a maximum of 350 on it over the course of time. If it's supposed to be cheaper I get the difference returned anyway

This.. looks pretty awesome xD I may get one when it comes out instead of the 3DS xD I'm really impressed. That touchpad on the back seems like a great idea.

Don't really give a hoot about any of the games.. I wonder how many of those are really being developed now. What they showed of the Uncharted may as well have been a port of the first game, though it's supposedly a prequel or sequel or something. I mean, I like Uncharted, LBP, etc... but I just don't care for shrunken down versions handled by other developers

What I'm interested is seeing what kind of new games they will put on the platform. Get the big names from the PS3 off it.. Build some new IPs here Sony!

I agree to a certain extent. But having these key games are what's going to start driving the initial sales. People like familiarity, just look at Nintendo as an example.

First port I saw was the Monster Hunter one, but then again would some of these ports be direct ones being as they are being adapted for the second analog? In the case of Monster Hunter it's supposed to be portable 3rd, yet it's not in the sense of the changed camera control.

This thread needs some love.

What we now know as the Vita will be out in Japan on the 17th December, and then sometime in the new year (March, maybe?) for the UK and US.

I pre-ordered mine in June!

Uncharted and Gravity Daze (or Gravity Rush as it will be called in the west) shall be mine on DAY ONE!
