According to the paper (La Presse), the studio will open its doors next year and will boast a work force of at least 100 employees. In terms of a location, Square has got its sights on setting up shop in either Montreal, Quebec or Toronto.

“The new consoles from Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo will require more attention and more staff. We want to prepare ourselves,” commented Stephane D'Astous, director of the firm’s Eidos Montreal studio.

Does this mean we could be seeing a Next-Generation of consoles sooner rather than later? Personally, I don't think a new generation of consoles is needed just yet. Of course, this is just "preperation", and there have been no formal announcements of new home consoles as of yet. With Nintendo focusing their efforts on promoting the 3DS, Sony working on the NGP and Microsoft riding high on the success of Kinect who knows when a new consle will arrive.

Are YOU ready for Next-Gen? And if so, when would you expect a new home console to hit?

Nope definitely not ready especially from what I'm hearing from some people that the PS3 still has not been maxed out [despite UC2 claims that they did max it out]. I haven't really looked much into it and quite frankly don't care to be honest but just relaying what I heard.

I hope it's just next generation of handhelds instead of consoles. There is still so much [least for the PS3] to do. Not sure on the 360 and really hard to tell since they [Microsoft] aren't releasing a lot of First party titles or have a lot of exclusives. Not counting things on XBLA of course though some of those games are fun.

I agree Myst, I'm not ready either. PS3 still has so much going for it, take Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Uncharted 3 for example --- UC3 looks amazing! Easily pushes the PS3 further than Uncharted 2, which is saying something. I'm sure Sony have more up their sleeves as well. And what with 3D, Move etc...big possibilities. Although I don't thiink Move is performing very well, whereas Kinect has officially been confirmed as being the fastest selling tech product ever!

Yeah I can see the appeal of Kinect at least in the eyes of those who buy it but the novelty will wear off fast when the games become old [least for the core ground] casual and fitness ones alike will more than likely be using it daily. Whereas the move can at least be applied to some games, but the downside is it seems to be more so "tacked" on rather than being built for it. So I dunno both seem to have their pluses and minuses but no one seems to watch to touch them in depth.
