I have read many arguments both for and against the current battle system and its ability to mix and match skills from all classes you have leveled. One side argues that it adds a lot of room for flexibility and allows players to make the kind of character they really want. The other side argues that with things the way they are classes aren't unique enough and serve no real "purpose" to a party.

Where do you stand?

I'm stuck somewhere in the middle. I kind of preferred having only one subjob as in FFXI, but then again I enjoy the freedom of FFXIV.

I think both statements are true.

SE needs to strike a balance so players can retain their freedom of customization, but still be under enough restrictions to preserve the uniqueness between individual classes. While that's easy to say, I'm sure a balance like that is difficult to hit.
