With the population of Eorzea being less than it was anticipated to be, and reports of some servers being pretty empty, do you believe that Square Enix should merge servers together? This could prove a problem for people who are members of link shells etc, but it would make the servers seem more alive, and would give the game more of a community feeling, rather than feeling so lonely.

I don't think so. Not yet. There are a lot of changes coming that will likely inject new life into the game. If nothing else, they should at least wait until they release the PS3 version and see what happens. I'm fairly confident the game will have enough players to support all of the servers.

It would be silly to do so before the PS3 version comes out, since then they would have to add servers again to accommodate new players, and server populations would need rebalancing with new servers. So while it may seem helpful in the short term, it probably wouldn't be the best move for the long term.
