Hey guys, I used to play XI for about 3-4 years till a few monthes before the release of XIV and of course motherboard fried sadly so I am stuck waiting till the ps3 release upon 2.0. I just came by to see if the game has made alot of improvements since the release date since I heard it was bad? I've been tempted to build a computer but lately found out I am having a kid on the way so I cant afford to do that at this time and will just have to wait it out like the rest of the ps3 users which kills me because I loved XI so much. I used to play on the Bahamut server under Necrucifer was a Mithra and usually played DRK/SAM. I hope the wait is well worth it because I miss XI and was kind of worried about FXIV Upon release when they said it was really bad.

Hopefully this formats right since I am on the ps3 if not I apologize if it is all smushed together and will try smaller replies/posts in the future. Also about the fatigue system which I am not to much worried about even if I did play XI hours on end but is it 15 hours per job or 15 hours period all week that all jobs share? One more question...which could probably be found on the forums but search didnt pick it up unless I typo'd but the stat and elemental points you get upon physical level can you reset all those points and replace them so if I wanted to switch from say Marauder to Conjurer could I replace all the stats so my mage class benefits more from more MND,PIE and INT etc? Thanks again and hope to see you all late this year :).

Hey, welcome to the site! ^_^

I haven't actually played in a few months (I am waiting for version 2.0 which will release near the end of 2012), but before I left a lot of changes had been made that drastically improved the game: quicker UI, more enemies, additional quests, beastmen strongholds, more inventory slots, the carryover of skills when changing classes, etc. Fatigue was also completely removed and the ability to adjust elemental points abolished (at least for now).

The game is no longer free, but there is a special storyline happening from now until the time version 2.0 is released that will no longer be available afterwards... so there is definitely a lot to keep you busy should you (or anyone else) decide to play on PC!

I doubt i'll get a pc before the game goes to 2.0 and released for ps3 towards the end of this year which is when I heard it was supposed to be anyway but thanks for all the great info :). I started off in Bastok on XI so figured Ul'dah or whatever its called seemed close to Bastok enough I figured I would probably start there for nostalgia purposes but heard alot of people are picking that as there starting city anyway so makes me wanna start in Gridania or Limsa depending on the type of craft I want to do anyway to make it easier for me to start.

I never did craft much in XI though tbh but I did farm hours on end when I switched to my THF for TH purposes and leveled up alchemy quite a bit and cooking about all I did craft wise there but heard it was much easier to start on XIV. Only reason I didnt get far enough on it to begin with in XI was because I usually farmed what I needed rather than buy except the crystals most the time due to stuff being expensive and I usually was saving my gil for gear or other things I needed. Sorry I tend to ramble off lol...just been watching some videos to get myself planned better for starting when it gets here so I dont get lost on whats what and confused as to what these or this is like retainers and leve's.

I heard they did not have a AH since I figured thats what the retainers were for but this was a year ago I heard that but any news on them implementing it? I know theres some pros and cons to having an AH but the retainers I have seen in videos in market districts used for storage or bazaars seems a bit more of a hassle to me trying to find out who sells what especially if there retainers name isnt what there selling which I could understand of course but idk I also miss the idea of no MH though for storage wise though :/ How much item space can retainers hold? I know you can have more than 1 for an extra dollar I read though. I feel like I am full of questions since I played XI so much but then again maybe I am just wanting to fill with knowledge before I play so I get an easier start that or I'm just being cautious lol.

Hello, Necrucifer! I am also waiting for FFXIV 2.0 to hit PS3 before I play. I've never played an online Final Fantasy title before so I do look forward to it. Unfortunately I don't know much about the changes that have hit so I can't really help you in that department, so I'll just say...welcome to the forums :)

Hello and thanks :) It's okay if you do not have any information to share with me especially since you have not played XI and will be new to XIV :D. I know I am pretty set already from playing XI on how to do some things except the things they have changed or the new things to the game which I think I got a decent amount of Info from watching videos I just feel like I still have alot of questions but I suppose some stuff I know I'll have to find out or learn in game like in XI.

I do hope you enjoy it though when its released :) Maybe we can even play sometime together when its released always makes it less lonely starting off. Some people didnt like XI because mostly the hard grinding since it was slow to level solo wise and sometimes a pain to get in a group depending on your class :/ that or people would sometimes ask if you could change jobs which was ok at times sometimes wasnt...leveling my THF to 40 took forever enough to get in a group but I just wanted the TH's on it anyway for farming so I stopped after a bit with it...That or leveling up a craft in XI was expensive if you didnt know where to get the mats especially...endless hours of farming for me anyway lol.

My PSN is Necrucifer if you want to add me though so that maybe upon release we can start off in the same world or something up to you of course :) Always good to start off with a friend playing as well though still undecided on the city I want to start in...still tempted for Ul'dah because it reminds me of Bastok though lol but then again seems most people start there or are crammed there like Jeuno in FFXI so I'll probably pick Limsa or Gridania.

Sounds good to me! :) I probably wouldn't have a clue what I am doing! For now, it's a waiting game D: Late 2012 / early 2013 is quite a way away!

Welcome again. :)
I have been playing since beta and it has gotten a lot better.
Currently there is no AH and I'm not sure when they will be putting one in. Each city has a market ward for you to see items in using your retainer. You get 2 retainer for free, but it might go back down to 1 when 2.o hits. A retainer holds 150 items and your character can hold 200 items at the moment. In one of the live news letters (i think theres where i saw it :P ) they said that housing was being worked on and they have some screen shot of the houses for Limsa. There will be garden in you home and the homes will have small neighborhoods. :D I'm looking forward to house parties. :D

There will be an AH system in place along with (or as part of?) the market wards when 2.0 is released. Also, the AH/Market Wards listings will be shared between locations, so if you put something up in Uldah, people in Limsa and Grid will also be able to see it. I think this will be a critical detail when it comes to helping to repopulate Limsa and Grid again. Also on the subject of spreading to the other cities again, I think we'll need a way to easily communicate/search/invite/etc on a more long distance basis so that people aren't as inclined to cluster only in Uldah just to find people for activities. Not sure what/if SE has anything in mind for this, though the search was recently improved.

Wait a minute... Yes, I'm slow I know... So this game is actually going to hit PS3? ! Wow, I never thought I'd see the day. May be worth getting when/if that happens. Any date yet?

Oh and Welcome to the boards, yup I'm slow, but better late then never right? (Can't say the same about FFXIV though)

From what I'm aware the FFXIV 2.00 update / revival will be hitting PC late 2012. After that's all done with Square Enix will launch FFXIV on PS3 early 2013. They're showing off FFXIV at E3 in June so I'm expecting more details there! I mean they are basically starting over with this so they need to start releasing the details now to get the game back in the public eye.

That's great news in so many ways. For current PC players who need a boost to population, 1st to PC then when PS3 hits. To current players who need a boost to gameplay. I may actually pay some attention to new details again, to get me excited again, and hopefully others. 'Starting over' is really the best thing they could do. I know a lot are waiting for the PS3 version, I also know a lot have moved to other MMO's (SWTOR comes to mind) and may rethink FFXIV. I know I will try to convince all my friends to get it when/if it comes out again :P . Annnd, maybe this site will get a bit more active once again. :)

All in all, good news. Thanks :D
