Log your gaming chronicles here. Maybe we'll end up in conversation about certain titles, or giving tips.. or arranging multiplayer sessions? Anything could happen once we admit what we're playing!

Today 9/12/09, I played Motor Storm: Pacific Rift.

A fierce and rough racer.. Motorstorm is a blast! It has speed to please and enough control over your car to keep skill involved.. But the course is dangerous as well.. When you're driving through a rocky jungle or on the side of a cliff, even veterans could slip up.
The first Motorstorm was good, but was a bit dry.. All the tracks were in the desert, and you couldn't take your aggression out on other players.. No offensive maneuvers. I'm not asking for koopa shells, here.
Motorstorm Pacific Rift fixes that.. A huge variety in environments (air, water, fire, earth themed courses) and the new ability to jolt your vehicle left or right to tackle opponents.

It really is a fun game. And it's gorgeous. I wish I had a larger tv to play it on... If I ever make money again, I'll definitely buy the associated DLC. I don't know if I can imagine a racer more thrilling than this.

Today I had a wide variety of games played. I started off this morning by playing Mario Cart for the DS, I had to kick some little kid's ass's because they use the word pwn to much. I then realize I got my package from amazon yesterday containing Final Fantasy Origins and Final Fantasy Anthology. I then started Final Fantasy I. After I ate some dinner I played some Rockband 2, Guitar Hero World Tour and Guitar Hero 2 for 360. I just got home and I think I might play a bit more FFI.

@Momotaru: I have Pacific Rift! However, I haven't played it at all recently. Maybe if we had a game sometime I could get back in to it? :p What's your PSN ID, if you don't mind me asking?

Anyway, today I have played...

Shatter (a PSN title). It's like a brick breaker game, with a twist. You have more control of the "ball" as you can use air to manipulate the direction. Fun, and only £4.99.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (Beta / Multiplayer demo). I got a code from IGN yesterday to download this! It's very fun, Deathmatch being one of my favourite! Online co-op is fun, too! You can have 3 players. If one of you die then the other player can come and revive you. You have objectives which you must work through together to progres. Definately a day one buy. Naughty Dog sure know how to make a good game. I'm looking forward to the single player. The first Uncharted had an amazing Story script.

The graphics are very good, screenshots don't do it justice.

My PSN ID: cerulean7

I don't play this game very often.. just every once in awhile I'll get hooked for a few days.. So I guess what I'm saying is I don't know if I'm terrific at it :p .. I do have the first 16 events in each of the 4 zones completed with a gold medal.. I just realized they're getting harder though.. suddenly seem much more difficult. But yeh, we could play sometime :)

Also, I don't have the DLC tracks right now. I'll probably pick them up sometime in the future when I have income.

Uncharted 2 does look good, but I'm worried that it's focusing too much on being a shooter.. Having played the multiplayer beta, what do you think? Does it feel like just another third person shooter? I guess you're having fun regardless. I still need to play through the first game, which I know is great.

Today I played more Motorstorm Pacific Rift. This event I'm at now may be the hardest yet.. Usually I can complete these with gold after 6 or so tries, but I'm not even getting close the lead position by the end of the race.. and I won't be happy with anything less than 1st place. Thing is, I just barely made Bronze after 10 or more attempts. It's on Razorback.. It's raining, you must choose Racing Truck, and the majority of the other competitors are Monster Trucks and Semis.. I know the opponents in this game are usually aggressive, but I've never seen them be such a-holes! Even when I'm not near them they're swerving around like lunatics! Amazing it doesn't seem to slow them down.

Maybe it's time I study the best locations to use boost.. Also, I wonder if different vehicle models behave differently..

I'll add you :)

Regarding the Uncharted 2 topic: The multiplayer beta does focus quite a lot on shooting. However, it's mixed up a bit with the different game modes that you can play. There's also a good cover system, which is nice. The environments are also very detailed, seemingly being locations that will be available in the single player mode. This means that there are a lot of places to climb, hide etc. I'm not a huge third person shooter fan, but there's something about Uncharted that makes me want to keep playing.

Besides, the full game will contain more maps and game modes, so there will be a lot of variety! I'm sure there is going to be an open demo for everyone to download in two weeks time, so I recommend that you download it then!

On topic: I haven't played anything yet...but I'll be getting back on the Uncharted 2 beta at some point!

Yep, there is an open demo. And it's a lot of fun!

Uncharted 2 is probably THE game to play on PS3 this year, and it makes me want to pick up the first game even more, especially now that it's cheap.

Anyway, that's what I played a few days ago. I had a full party together of a few friends and one person we played online. It was really a blast!

I've also been playing Mario & Luigi 3on DS. I'm at about 22 hours, and have gone out of my way to look for secrets.. So it seems a little short, as I can now enter the final area at anytime.
But despite what I'll call a short game for an RPG, it might be the best Mario RPG to date.. Nobody bothers to make 2D sprites animate this well anymore, the game is very charming and humorous, and the battles have all kinds of varied interactions in them.

It's kinda easy, so I have an item permanently equipped that makes the enemies more powerful but gives bonus coins as a result.. Which may or may not be the reason why I've constantly had way more coins than I know what to do with.. (they're all over the place anyway) I also don't wear the best gear, knowing the game would be a breeze if I did, but I still like finding it.

So if you're looking for a lighthearted RPG, or are at all a Mario fan, you'll surely get a kick out of Mario & Luigi 3. Awesome, awesome game. So much fun, I'm gonna be sad when I'm through with it.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. I completed the game on Normal mode on Thursday night, so I decided to give the multiplayer a spin today. I have to say I really enjoyed the online multiplayer when I had the Beta, but now after sitting through the full, epic single player story, it's not as impressive...but still a lot of fun! Plus it will definitely add to the longetivity of the game. I'll give it another shot soon, as there a lot of the online gameplay modes which I have yet to try out. I've also started the game again on Hard mode, but I haven't got too far yet!

LittleBigPlanet. My little sister had her friend sleeping over tonight, so I was helping them play :D

Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection (PSN). I'll more than likely be deleting this from my Hard Drive in a week, once Tekken 6 arrives! I was having some pretty intense fights with MiniCloudz, who has yet to join these forums yet. Julia = my favourite fighter! I'm good with her, but suck really badly with...pretty much everyone else :onion85:

Eh? You should just get a bigger harddrive.
Seagate is the brand in the system by default. So stick with that, and get some more gigs for your gullet.

This weekend I did a PC gaming marathon and popped in a bunch of my old favorites. I can't play any games made after the year 2003 (Pentium III 730MHz limitations) so most of these games are pretty dated and didn't age very well. If I have the time I might play Anachronox (Turn Based RPG) next weekend.

Homeworld
~~~~~~~
I can't believe I forgot how insanely hard "Homeworld" is. I never beat its Single Player campaign and now I know why. This is a 4x style space strategy game where you build spacecraft, create groups, and assault your enemy. It still plays well and looks good but the difficulty of this game is insane. I uninstalled it after Mission 9 (^_^ ;; ).
Deus X
~~~~~
I also retried Deus Ex again but the visuals didn't hold up too well and I hate playing games in first person view using a keyboard. This is an amazing action/rpg spy game with a top notch story. It's like a very linear version of Fallout 3 with outdated visuals and no VATS system. You've got lockpicking, hacking, big guns, small arms, melee, demolition, and medicine skills among others. You also gain levels and money and find better gear. I uninstalled it after a few hours though. I already know how it ends.

Freelancer 2
~~~~~~~~
Amazing game for older rigs! This game only requires a 600MGz processor and a 16MB video card yet it runs so smooth on max settings! This game definitely has the best visuals of any game I've played on this PC of mine. I can barely play Warcraft 3 on max settings yet this games visuals impress me more than some bottom barrel PS3 games! What's even better is that it plays very well using a PS3 Controller as a PC game pad. Amazing game all around.
Since I have not played any games today and probably won't (homework), I will list my games I played yesterday.
I played some FFXI really quickly. Me and my brother were coffer hunting/farming in Crawler's Nest. So much fun... I also put some stuff up for sale. I had a lot of equipment from jobs I was going to be leveling and I'm rethinking what I want to level. So I'm selling out all the junk and deciding what I'm going to level then I'm going to devote myself to it.
Then I played some Bioshock. I had no idea what I was originally doing when I first tried my hand at going through Rapture. I missed a lot of Little sisters and I didn't have the "explorer's spirit" so I missed lots of cash coves and treasures, etc... So I'm starting over. I find if I'm struggling in a game sometimes a fresh start helps you get into a groove much earlier so that you have a better time. Which brings me to my next game...
Final Fantasy III DS. Same with Bioshock, I was having a harder time at playing this game. I didn't realize how much treasure was off the beaten path! Starting over and having more of an explorer's spirit also benefitted me in this game. I'm already upgraded with all best equipment/spells, mapped out what I want each character to do in a party, and got gil to spend. Plus I'm ahead of the curve as far as my job levels and character levels go. So I'm really enjoying it the second play through.
"If I could protect but one person from war's horror, I would bear any shame. I would bear it proudly." Bausch Von Ronsenburg
"I disagree! R is among the most menacing sounds. That's why it's called Murder and not Muck duck!" Dwight K. Schrute
Muramasa Demon Blade .. It's too bad this game is on the Wii, or rather, it's too bad the Wii doesn't output in hi-def, because the art in this game is spectacular.
One thing that irritates me is the English translation.. My Japanese isn't so hot, but I can tell they're saying much more than what's translated in the dialogue box. They probably saw this as an opportunity to make the game less 'wordy'. Still, at least the Japanese audio is there, which always gives me a chance to polish my Japanese understanding and hear the real conversations when I'm able.
Was hoping to play some New Super Mario Bros, but am realizing I don't have a great selection of friends to play with (I guess I knew this before). My closest friend is pretty bad at it.. She can't even get used to using both dash and jump buttons at the same time (hold dash, press jump with other half of thumb.. Mario basics, right? I can't hold it against her, but I'd be lying if I didn't admit it takes some of the fun out of it) My closest gamer friend spends too much time drinking, smoking, and hanging out with questionable company recently to spend an evening doing anything but. I have a couple others I could play with, but not a close group of informed and enthusiastic gamers that I'd like to play with.
.. Sigh.. Well, I'm sure it will be like that someday when I get out of this lame area.. Room with 2 or 3 lively gaming oriented males who all get along.
