I'd like to see Chemist not be able to heal anyone but themselves. Id rather see it be somewhat like BLU where instead of magic, theyre making explosives and such.
How about a "Chemist" job/class?

Sorry to revive a two-month-old thread, but now that more information has been released regarding the different disciplines that will be found in the game, where do you think Chemist would fit in if it were to be implemented? Disciples of the Hand?

I think they would fit in as a Disciple of the Hand. I'm thinking they might have combat oriented potions, and then non combat potions.
For example: A "non combat" potion can be used by anyone, and restores a bit of HP after fights but has a lengthy cooldown
A "combat" potion could only be used by the Chemist, and be able to be used on anyone but restores slightly less HP with a shorter cooldown.
I could see Chemists being a debuffer/buffer in this sense. I remember in FFXI there were poison and sleep potions that could only be used on yourself. If they had these in 14, but had it where the Chemist could use those status ailments to aid them in battle.

If chemists used acidic potions as a weapon I could see that being real expensive.

Yes, no doubt it would be quite expensive to maintain such a discipline.
That wouldn't necessarily be a negative thing, though. I think it's good to have some disciplines which require more maintenance (fees) than others.

Hmmm... that's a tough one.
Could go into disciples of the land since all of the ingredients come from plants and digging etc.
Could go into disciples of the hand since there would be a lot of mixing and crafting etc.
not sure
In any event, I would like to see the chemist being able to place status effects on anyone, and just have the potions be expensive or difficult to make, rather than limiting them to self medication.
