I have read in the official description about javelins, but have not seen or heard of them in the beta so far. Has anyone got any details about them? Thanks for the information, planning on trying a Lalafell Lancer.

I figured out the javelins. Just like arrows for the archer you just need to buy them and meet the minimum ranking of the weapons. Just place them in the same inventory slot as you would arrows. On the action bar under "0" you will have the throw option. They work pretty good.

So is a Lancer pretty much a DD?
As far as I understand they pretty much are. But that doesn't completely describe how I picture them being played. I see the lancer taking a big part in crowd control. With the ability collusion you can transfer the enmity from your next attack to another player. It is basically the thief's ability Sneak Attack. You could add the pugilist's move Blindside to basically make a Sneak Attack Trick Attack combo.
You'll basically be the first person to protect the mages and the archer from crazy mobs. Pretty much being a thief, or at least how I played it. That is the plan I have for playing lancer. There really isn't a set way to play lancer or really any other job for that matter. You can make lancer as a straight DD depending on what abilities and weapon skills you decide to use.
I really wouldn't worry about how any job seems to be on the surface. SE seems to really want the players to experiment and think outside of the box. Which is really exciting for me, making my lancer with thieving skills lol. I have many other ideas in my mind, but that is with other jobs I'll be playing later on and I am on the lancer forum lol.

from what i see of the list of abilities the lancer is a damage dealer with the heart of a thief in how they hurt you. using dirty handed tatics to confuse and abuse the range of the lance you hurt the enemy and make them hurt themselves in various ways.
Yoohohohohoo!

Blindside is sneak attack, Collusion is trick attack
