I know that Japan has a lot of places like McDonald's and Starbucks these days, but I've always wondered if they taste the same as in America or if the menu and flavors are changed to help appeal to Japanese customers.

All of the main American chains basically taste the same as they do back home, though as you stated there are usually some additional choices added to the menu to better appeal to Japanese tastes. A lot of shrimp burgers/sandwiches, for example, as well as azuki-flavored coffees/etc. The size of everything is about the same as well, but I think the largest available drink at McDonalds is likely smaller than in America. Starbucks' sizes are exactly the same, though (and even more expensive than in America if you can believe it!). :msncoffee: It's often worth it, though.

KFC taste a lot different to me, it’s pretty good just different from the US version. One thing to note about fast food in Japan is the food is always fresh! If you go to McDonalds or any other major chain in Japan you’re not going to get stale fries and a burger that has been sitting under a heat lamp for two hours. They take a lot of pride in customer service, freshness and quality of the food they serve.

This is absolutely true! :D I'm always impressed by how fresh McDonald's tastes compared to back home.

Did you ever eat at Mos Burger? That's got to be the freshest of the bunch (though it doesn't exist in America, I know).

I love Mos Burger; I would always get the teriyaki chicken sandwich there!
