Not sure if this counts as "news", but I've been eager to find out how many discs the 360 version would ship on. Now it seems we have an answer.

Square Enix has told VG247 that the 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII will ship on three DVDs in March.

The news comes after it was US retailer Gamefly listed the RPG at three discs overnight.
�Yes the game is on three DVDs for the 360,� a Square rep told us.
It was also confirmed to us that you�re not going to be doing too much ejecting during play.
�Players will only have to swap discs twice during their entire game,� said the rep.

But really, ouch... (no xbox bashing) 3 discs!? That's really a lot compared to one good ol' BD. I'm glad I won't be changing discs all the time!

I got a little frustrated with changing them all the time on X360 when I played Lost Odyssey. I would change the disc and the fan would start screaming as if it was about to explode. That was due to not installing all 4 discs at once, but I was lazy and wanted to play ASAP. :msnchuckle:

It reminds me of the PSX days of Final Fantasy. A bit nostalgic, actually (though annoying to be sure). ;)

Fortunately, I will be playing this on PS3 (once I get one, that is).

This is actually the third or fourth RPG on 360 to be on 3 discs.

I won't condemn them for it..... Unless content for the finalized product was removed to save Microsoft some embarrassment... and that might not be the case at all.


However, I have seen some words in interviews about how they packed the Bluray to the brim..... To that, I say: Why not release the game on 2 bluray discs? I just hope they didn't cut out anything significant (though we've already heard about "a game's worth of content" being cut from FFXIII for some reason or another).

Not so fast, surely you remember playing awesome games (like FFVIII) on an awesome system (Playstation) on 4 (count 'em) 4! Discs!

I'm not a big fan of the breakbox 360 either, but like I said, if it meant more content, I'd even ask for 3 Blu Ray discs, without shame.

Uhmm... dunno what to think about it.
It they had chosen not to make the game so linear, they prolly would have needed to make it a 2 Blueray disc game for the PS3 (and i would not mind to have to change discs once or twice during the game). But then... how many discs would have been needed to make the 360 version?
