Since hearing about Final Fantasy XIV, has anyone had the urge to start playing FFXI again? If not seriously, then at least just a little bit? I sure have. The thought of seeing Vana'Diel one last time sounds very appealing.
I'm not sure whether I will or not, but I thought I'd see if anyone else has been feeling the same way.

Yes a little.
I also did before about two months ago. So for kicks I got a trial account mainly to see how the graphics were on max. Also to spy and see if any of my old friends still played. Didn't recognize ANYONE.
Hypothetically if we were going to do this....we would all need to play together on the same server. My character is probably still there. I moved him to another server last time I played so I could always move him somewhere else if you guys are serious.
...I probably just took this thread farther then anyone though it would go

I have, although I think I'd need to start new but I have thought about it many times. If anyone does start again let me know, I'm a complete noob to the game too (Only played for a month).

Not really. If anything, it makes me feel better about retiring when I did, because now I don't have to face the harsh reality of having to ditch a fully developed character and start a brand new one. I still have to start a brand new one...but my character has been out of commission for a loonnngggg time. One of my good friends in-game still owns it, so...it still lives on too, which is nice.

Yeah if they would lower the subscription fee I'd definitely do it with you guys just for fun group events and some play. It would be like we all played XI together and then moved to XIV together. So this idea may have some go!

Hehe, I know what you mean, but I've gone years without playing it already.
Other than being a little aged, there are also some flaws in the game I'm not crazy about as well as it being an enormous timesink. More importantly, I need to get a job before I start playing an MMO, or then I'll really be a deadbeat. :s

I'm in the same boat. I'd love to play for free and mess around, but my irl needs more work. So if I spent money on it i'd only be hurting myself. That's why I said I would definitely play if they would drop the fee to a few dollars a month.

I do have the urge... but I just don't know if it would be as fun as it used to be. Half of the fun for me was working hard to get everything done - LVL 75, CoP, ZM, ToAU, etc., and they were all such big accomplishments (especially since I had to tell a lot of ppl DRG onry), but once I got that done, there wasn't much left. There is no way I could/would do it all again.. it would just almost be like playing a single player RPG all over again from the beginning..
I'd like to do it all again with a different game someday, but only if it doesn't interfere with real life. I can tell you this - after coming to terms with the difficult decision of quitting, I was able to take on a lot more responsibility and focus a bit better IRL. If I do it all again, I'd hope to keep that same focus and drive. I think it would help playing a bit of more casual game, something that 14 brings to the table.
I'd like to do it all again with a different game someday, but only if it doesn't interfere with real life. Well... I still have my account, I like to log on every so often to say hi to friends... It's just a matter of finding something fun to do, as leveling Dancer is about the only thing I would have to do.
I don't really want to dedicate the time to Dynamis or anything like that at the moment, especially because FFXIV is coming, it would be a lot of work for nothing.
I tried to get into it after I quit WoW recently, the only thing I could find to do was power level a friend in Valk Dunes.
