I was just wondering what this forums veiws on Ghosts and other worldly spirits were. There have been a vast amount of claims of ghostly goings on and even some recorded video footage that experts can't explain. Many people believe in their existance, but there are also many that don't believe in the spooky-spookies as there isn't any solid proof. Also, what are your thoughts on those that claim to be able to see/talk to ghosts at will (or for a small fee)

Is there anyone here that believes in them? If so, why? your own experience or someone elses experience that they have told you about... Weird goings on or.. something where you could say with out doubt it wasn't your imagination?

those that Don't believe in ghosts, what are your thoughts on those that claim to have experiences?

I'm not too sure.. when I was a child I believed in them because I can remember many experiences with things I didn't understand. seeing my Nan among other people who had died in my young life... hands I couldn't see grabing me by the arm or neck, demonic chanting close by when I was alone in my room...

then I got a little older and I stopped believing... I stopped having experiences and was sure that it was just myself inventing those memories to help explain things I couldn't explain or remember clearly, or memories I tried to force myself to alter... I thought about ghosts alot when I was younger aswell, because alot of people I loved died (and have been dying consistantly my whole life which is prob why Im so apathetic and morbid in real life >_> )and thinking back; I may not have seen my nan or anyone else, but rather, I wanted to see them so much my imagination created there image in my mind that i soon thought I had seen them out side of my mind... bah~~ I think I butchered my already butchered theory... I just started coming up with reasons why i saw what I saw pretty much...

though, I still get the demonic voices usually in the morning....

Now I'm not sure if I believe or not, as last tuesday night, I believe I may have had another experience, and I wasn't alone this time either... though my **Night Tremors make me believe there is something wrong with me...

**(I don't know if a real word for it exists, so I just call it Night Tremors after a friend suggested it after telling him what it was.... I've never heard anyone else experience anything like it.. I'll explain what it is later...)

So, what is everyone elses veiws on Ghosts? (maybe I should add a poll?)

I'm like you. I used to believe in Ghosts as a kid.. and I've always enjoyed horror and scary stuff.

So there was a time when I would say "yes, I don't know what ghosts are, but I think they exist". I never really had any experiences though, but I always imagined the frightening possibilities. Hehe, just moving through the house alone, I would imagine gates falling behind me to keep skeletons or other kinds of creepy things from being able to get me. I would run like mad to get to another room in the house fearing something might suddenly get me... and I'd have trouble looking into a mirror once I was conscious of the thought of something scary appearing in it.

But now, I have no belief in the supernatural.

If there's some odd happening or occurrence, it can be explained reasonably. If there's an event which can't be explained easily, it's simply a matter of time before it can be.

Suppose you thought you heard a voice.. Isn't it much more likely that you were mistaken, heard some other noise, or really any other of hundreds of possibilities that could logically explain it as opposed to leaping to a fantastical thought like human spirits?

While I'm on the general subject, there's no such thing as demonic possession because there is no such thing as demons. Fun to put into our fiction, but you have nothing to worry about, folks. You don't need to fear Ouji boards, either, so go ahead and have fun with it.

Wanna tell us about your most recent experience?

I believe in ghosts, I want to see one...

...but I don't believe in the supernatural.
What the hell? I keep asking myself that, too.

When I hear something moving (like a rustling of plastic bag) in the middle of the night, I automatically know that it's just a rat moving around in my thrash (because I know I have a lot of those in my room). When I hear somebody calling my name, I know I'm just imagining it. Or hearing something else as something else. When I see something in the corner of my eyes, I later realize it's just dirt in my glasses.

But I get creeped out when I see a variant of the "11:11" thing, which, according to a classmate, has something to do with a spirit prescence. Some of my other classmates say it's just a coincidence, but I find that hard to believe. I see a variant of it at least 5 times a day. o.O

What is the meaning behind 11:11? Symmetry? Like two little girls standing in a hallway? :o

Momo, when I first made this thread, I knew straight away you would be one to not believe in spirits xD being our recognised resident realist~~

I to knw demons don't exist, it was just the word I was using to describe it... the voice i here only happens when im waking up early morning and sounds like a death metal singer shouter is prictising inside my ear... Its very clear but stops abruptly. and i know its not out side or in the next room... or even in my mind its like its in/next to my ear and its loud =[ Its strange but not often like.. last time it happened was about 8 months ago...

My new experiece was last tuesday night, I stayed at my friend's house who is also a coworker and we had anealy morning meeting and she lives a two minute walk away. It was just convenient~~ anyway, have a good day, played some games, cooked food and had a "girls night in" as we call it. (prob due to the fact that in work I always get confused for being a woman due to my long beaultiful hair- inside jokes ftw!) Anyway, we got onto the subject of when we were younger and seeing ghosts as we were younger... Laura claimed that the house was hauted (this was after the experience) and that an old man 'lived' there named Albert.

So, we usually both stay in her bed when I stay over but this time was different as we both stayed in the spare room instead (because I always complain at how painful he bed is... which it is... very much so). so to start of the night she was by wall and opposite me was a tall mirror... I looked into the mirrord thought saw a dark image standing by laura's legs.. but I thught nothing of this- I just decided not to look in the mirror anymore, though I knew it was prob just my eyes still adjusting to the dark..

Laura fell asleep and began snoring (which is loud.. seriously >_> ) after awhile I had had enouth and elbowed her and said shut up, she replied what? I've not fallen asleep yet ad i was like o_O - yeah you were~~~ anyway, she starts snoring again and I was going to record it to prove to her how bad she is, but didn't want to reach down and grab my phone from the floor and I suddely felt incredably tired which was odd as I was caffiened up and wasn't due a come down yet xD

I felt my eyes start to close and I was almost asleep when I suddenly became alert for some reason.. all tiredness gone. Laura had aswell stopped snoring the moment I reopened my eyes and I looked infrom of me and thought "what time is it? the sun has started to rise already?" cause it looked like light was coming though the curtain before I realised.. the light was between me and the curtains...

I started shouting "what the hell" over and over again quite quickly whilst pushing myself backwards into laura.. she was saying what!whah!what! and she saw it aswell just as it faded... I dont remembr any detail of what ever it was.. I just remember my inicial pre-what the hell impression of the thing was: it was old and that it had its hand rested on my leg...

We both fell asleep again and the next morning.. the thing I find the weirdest... My phone was by my head >_>
Laura told me about albert the next day...

anyway... I still don't really believe in them.. the onlt thing that really worries me at the minute are my Night Tremors... still no idea if there is a real name for them >_>

Ghosts. Hmm, I have always been skeptical about them, and Derek Acorah on Most Haunted never really used to help that!

However...

...I did have a kind of experience, but don't laugh when I tell you all!

When me and my Mum got freeview, I was the one who set up the box. My Mum had left it on the stairs for me ready to open and set up when I got back home. When I opened the box...this, ghostly hand / arm actually stretched out of it and reached for my face. I literally threw the box on to the floor, and went and sat in the front room. My Mum asked me if I was alright, and she said that I had gone really pale (trust me, that's hard xD) and I explained to her what had happened. Really, really strange.

My Mum and my auntie are actually part of a group called SI (Supernatural Investigators) and they regularly go to various places that are said to be haunted, and hold investigations. I'm going along to one of them in April, which I'm actually really looking forward to. Watching programmes such as Most Haunted really make you NOT believe, but I'm guessing being there in person is going to be extremely different, and it's an experience that I'm anticipating a lot! Who knows what might happen...it could be nothing at all.

Maybe my freeview ghost will come back to haunt me. "You should have got Sky!" Well don't you worry, Mr. Now we have Sky+, and we love it!

Hehe, interesting stories!

Val, you both seemed to have an evening of unrest. To your sudden alarm, I doubt you were fully conscious.

The light was coming from outside the window, a streetlamp going haywire, a cars headlights, perhaps the vehicle stopping then suddenly turning giving the impression the light was moving. ... Dare I say, Ball Lightning, even. As for your friend, you probably could have convinced her of anything.. You say yourself she didn't even think she was snoring when she clearly was.

Either you or your friend may have moved your phone sometime in the night. It's not uncommon to forget events during a restless night.

I have no explanation for Kurisu's Hand out of a box. Maybe you dreamed this whole situation after catching the Addams Family on the telly late at night. Haha, well it's interesting.

Someone tell me about 11:11.

Don't let me spoil the fun, here.

you know, I would be more scared if it was a car or street light xD the only thing out of that window are fields and a tiny play house her cats live in xD theres nothing out there ...

the phone thing doesn't really bother me, i prob did pick it up and forgot...

and we did both suddenly become alert... I felt like a can of redbull kicked in and her... I know her tired voice from her wide awake voice...

what I saw was definatly between me and the curtains as when I moved all the was over into laura, I could still see it it with the cubboard behind it before it faded.... as I said I don't recall and detail or any sort of shape to it... I just recall my instant impression of what ever it was, it was old and was reaching out to my leg (which I actually have a big bruise on now in the same place~~~ nothing super natural, us had a crazy night last night xD)

I would be happy to believe it was nothing.. and maybe I already do, but when your mind thinks youve seen something theres always that nagging 'what if I did~~'

sorry for typos.. Im recovering xD
