It’s finally time! The FFXIV Roleplaying Coalition (RPC) is finally opening to the public. Before now, we’ve been sending out private invites to known RP groups who managed to survive through FFXI’s dwindling RP community , slowly bolstering our ranks and getting our initial organization underway. If you are remotely interested in the concept of RP in Hydaelyn, then this is the place to sign up. It doesn’t matter how hardcore or casual of a roleplayer you are. It doesn’t matter if you plan to join a RP guild or just freelance RP from time to time. Even if you’re just a general supporter who may rarely ever RP, we would be happy to have your support.

So what is the RPC? We are a collective group of prospective roleplaying guilds/linkshells, freelance roleplayers, and roleplay supporters set for the upcoming new world of Hydaelyn. We will be voting on an “official” RP server upon receiving a server list (assuming SE doesn’t designate a RP server themselves). We are not a super guild or anything like that but rather a coalition, resource, and outlet of/for roleplayers. So why should you join the RPC and/or try to get on the same server (or at least on the forums to keep tabs on what’s going on)?

1. The RPC will eventually be hosting a plethora of public RP related events in game. You’ll see public events ranging from an annual fashion show, fun competitive sports, talent shows, simple tavern gatherings, and a variety of other in character games and events created by and for the denizens of Eorzea. We hope that these public events will pull people away from the general grind and allow them to show off their creativity, get a glimpse of true RP in an MMO setting, and/or just allow people more opportunities to meet new fellow adventurers.

2. The RPC will also be handling the compilation of all lore upon the game’s release. Those who have a background in FFXI may remember sites such as “History of Vana’diel” where organized timelines and NPC profiles were made. This kind of stuff will be centralized on the RPC site/forums eventually (detailed profiles on cities, dungeons, gods, major NPCs, etc). It’s only natural that the roleplayers handle lore related content in such a way seeing as they tend to be experts in that field. In addition to this, we may eventually be creating an in character newspaper similar to the past Vana’diel Tribune (again, after game launch). With SE’s support (assuming they decide to support us), we could probably do quite a lot for both Rpers and non-Rpers alike (writing contests, etc).

3. The RPC will act as a central hub for all other RP aspects of the game. This means RP guilds/linkshells will be advertising themselves here, a lot of character stories and profiles will be posted here, and so much more.

Further information regarding who we are can be found on the main RPC site. If you’re interested in assisting with, taking part in, or just seeing any of the above things unfold, feel free to sign up. The roleplay community is definitely going to be bigger, more united, and more organized than it was in Vana’diel. If you’re wondering why this is launching so soon as opposed to waiting until closer to the game’s release, it’s because roleplayers tend to need more time for preparations than the general population. We tend to need lots of time to coordinate our character personas, backgrounds, and so on. In addition, it’s going to take a lot of pre-coordination to get roleplayers more united than they were in FFXI (where they were hardly noticed at all and did their thing primarily in isolation).

The site is located here, though the RPC forums (linked on the site) are where most of the action will be found for the time being: http://www.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/

Hope to see many future prospective roleplayers and RP supporters there!

Soooo, welcome to the site.

We have a RP section here too, so feel free to participate in it. I'm not too sure if Eorzea would be pleased to see someone's 1st post around here advertising for another community. Feel free to advertise this site over on there forums if you want. Although I did take a look at the forums over there and it does seem to be completely RP based, unlike us, we only have a small section dedicated to RP.

Weeell...This is a FF14 fan site. And seeing as no other fan site (all of which are larger by far) is remotely peeved at someone with a low post count advertising something as major as this, I would suspect the administration here wouldn't be offended at all. The RP community is a major thing for a lot of people and FFXI never had any organized large-scale RP group unless you count tiny RP linkshells scattered across various servers. We're organizing ourselves and while yes, you do have a RP section here, it's not aimed at one specific world/game. This coalition is a huge deal and will eventually be on par with similar RP coalitions from other MMO's. If anything, the administration should be honored that we even viewed this site as significant enough to advertise in rather than be displeased that a first time poster is advertising something xD

Would have had someone with a higher post count post it but sadly, nobody from the RPC is apparently a member here.

I never said it was necessarily a bad thing, I think what you guys have going on over there is kind of cool, although I'm not really a big RP'er myself. The biggest reason I said anything about the advertising is because it's just a little pet peeve of mine. When people go to a site, post once, in regards to their own site, and never come back. I never said what you guys were doing is a bad thing, but I do hope you will stick around this site as well and not disappear on us.

Edit:

Here, take off your coat and stay awhile. Make an introduction, tell us a bit about yourself.

Technically, Ch1efer is right. It clearly states in the Rules of Conduct that "starting a thread or responding to someone else with the sole purpose of advertising your own site" is not OK and instead suggests that you use your signature for such things. We are not alone in this; many sites share a similar rule.

That being said, your post is fine (especially given the section you posted it in, which I appreciate). You're trying to establish a strong roleplaying presence in FFXIV and I think that's a positive thing.

The only problem I foresee is that most of these communities you're advertising on will all likely have their own "official" server as well (us included), which means that unless your coalition happens to be on the same server, people would be forced to have two accounts in order to be included in the main mix of things.

Anyway, welcome to our community. :msnwave: Best of luck with your cause.

On a side note, most of these 'larger by far' fansites you're referring to have been around since FFXI and/or are a part of much larger networks; as a result, they are already well established. We are independently run and just recently changed forum software (which is why our content is currently offline). Member accounts yet to be activated were also removed at that time.
