i like what im seeing with the disciplines of war, we have one tank wich i like because in ffxi as the actual tank class warrior no one wanted you they wanted a palidin or ninja sub you and i thought that was BS and why i hope subjobs are not in ffxiv. we have an archer who can be a puller and range dps/crowd control. the lancer will be pure damage on one target where i think the murader will be hitting multiple mobs. finally we have the pugilist the close range dps making a tag team between him and the archer deadly. what im hoping to see in FFXIV that not really in many mmos is clear cut roles for the classes. ffxi problem was that subjobs blurred the lines so that class that were not ment to do one role no can as long as the have ability or abilites from nother class put in.
Yoohohohohoo!

I agree with no subjobs in FFXIV, in FFXI there was only 1 choice for a subjob for each job, so they might as well get rid of them altogether and just give each class a defined role.

To me it sounds like Lancer is just damage, Gladiator is just tanking, and so on which I like because you only have to focus on 1 aspect, so it's easier to stack on a single stat or two and be fine. I also like having big numbers :P

So I like the direction they are going with FFXIV.

so based on that footage he one hit kills fools all day, and has no apparent abilities? I can dig it. :onion44:

.. One hit kills fools all day long (with low accuracy) once the fool has been tenderized a bit by other classes.

Marauder has gone from "who is this boring, sad fellow" to "woh! stay out of that guy's way... He's a Marauder! Huh? O-Oh nothing sire!.. Shall I wash your feet?, hehe :onion55: "

Yeh, the low accuracy bit from the leaked info isn't a knock against him so much as it is a tribute to his might and power!

Marauder actually sounds kind of like a samurai from xi. Stores TP and is good at hitting hard and finishing enemies off.

I'm actually interested in Marauder, I like being able to unleash big powerful blows to my enemies! I didn't think any of the Disciple of War classes would interest me from the start but this one has be stoked :onion83:

That picture of the plated Marauder looks so sick... I might have to leave my lance behind and pick up a wicked axe :D

~Lust for Destruction~

The marauder is a combat Specialist whose weapon of choice is the greataxe - a fearsome arm emblematic of Eorzea's Pirates. Their approach to battle is one of brute force, relying on strength and steal to crush enemies and sunder weapons.

They are highly sought after for thier ferocity and intimdating presence, and are often employed to hunt down monsters plaguing the land, or to turn the tide of battle between warring nations, Throwing axes such as the francisca supplement the marauders' arsenal, making them fearsome adversaries even at range.

I like it! Sounds like a brute force, name taking, roughing you up for your lunch money kind of class. I don't personally think they're limiting classes and I like the fact that they're putting new spins on old (well similar to old) classes. But they do sound like barbaric type. :onion78:

I've just had another read through of all the Disciplines and I've decided that I'm definitely going to start playing FFXIV as the Marauder Discipline. I think that the great axe will suit my Hyur Highlander just fine :P

I don't quite agree with that. I see them being able to do crowd control even if you're just going strictly with the abilities they start off with. You have collusion which can really help if the tank is haven't a hard time keeping aggro. Overrun helps with getting the attention of mobs that are attacking people they shouldn't be attacking. But, it really depends on how you want to play that particular job. I want to be a thief lancer of sorts others may want to do straight dd.

But, back to marauder. I really can't wait to level it. I get to lug around a great axe and beat the monsters around. One of the things I loved to do with my mithra warrior on ffxi. I'll have to figure a way to tank and still use that great axe lol.
