Take a look at the monsters we currently have in the Bestiary:
http://www.beyondvan...om/bestiary.php

Any surprises or disappointments? Which images and/or what information appeals to you the most thus far? Do you feel happy, disappointed or indifferent to see some of the same monsters again (e.g. raptor, opo-opo)?

Personally, I find the Aldgoat to be the most intriguing so far, particularly the portion of information that states how they "can be successfully domesticated and raised as livestock provided they are broken before their second year." Does that mean one of the Disciples of the Land could possibly be a farmer/breeder? I actually made a topic awhile back about this possibility if you wish to discuss it further:

Also, I think the Antelope look beautiful and will be a nice addition to Final Fantasy XIV.

How about you?

Something that crossed my mind...

I wonder because of the codex's if we'll each have our own, and as we kill more mobs if we'll be able to get more pages and info about them? That would be a fun little thing similar to how FFXII worked....

I'm interested in where the Mammet will reside.. Doesn't exactly see like he'd come wandering out of the bushes.

Anything that existed before in XI probably has a very different appearance... is what I would like to have said, but the Raptor and Opo-opo share a very strong resemblance to their former selves. Well, they still look great anyway.

Probably some 15% of the bestiary will be lifted straight from XI.... Some 35% will be re-envisioned versions of XI beasts, 30% will be recycled from other FF bestiaries, and we'll see maybe 20% brand new monsters.... Maybe :onion126:

Note: Four posts were completely off topic and thus removed. If you would like to talk about the game's release date, please create a thread.

Carry on. :D

I really hope though that those mobs aren't going to waste. They're we're a lot of areas/mobs you never really saw or used because they just weren't considered useful. It's nice and all to see some of the new mobs, but if we aren't going to have a use in them, whats the point ya know? Some of them though... they look so sick...

Hopefully we'll see some interesting incorporation of mobs and terrain in this game.

I hope so too, TempestKin.

Just glanced at the XI bestiary and realized I hadn't seen a huge chunk of them.... What cool creatures!

Well, I hope XIV keeps my interest longer, and is reasonable to play for someone hoping to have a life in the future.

Let's not forget some of the monsters seen in images thus far that have yet to be officially introduced on the main site:

Those crabs are probably my favorite thus far.

So menacing! And yet, I'm sure we'll be killing hordes of them soon enough... from which point on, we'll be fearing crabs of a different texture, and so on.

I've never even seen this thread before! Thanks Eorzea for linking to it in the "Vanafest has died down..." thread, Eorzea.

I have to say, I'm not very keen on the new look of the Cactuar. Where's the good 'ol "=0" shaped face of old? Although I just done a quick Google search to find out what they looked like in FFXI...the FFXIV design is much better than them!

And why the name change from Malboro to Marbol? I guess it's a lot easier to pronounce, now!

As for the Opu-opu... <3 I think I want to keep one as a pet!

It's going to be very interesting to see how the eco-system is going to work within this game!

AHRIMAN,CACTUAR,MORBOL,OGRE are my fav!! I like the fact they brought some old FF mobs from other FF games. I love the newer mobs too alot of them just like wild animals which is really kool too!.
Violence is not the ONLY solution, but it is a solution!
