Hi yall,
I was thinking to myself about weapon ideas that would be neat. I really thought that a Whip would be awsome!!! like in FF8 or the gunblade. Mabey even the Sword types from FF7 or Zidanes Big Double bladed pole are thingy. WOW how cool would that be? I would love to see some of those things in there too.
Violence is not the ONLY solution, but it is a solution!

I certainly hope to see some interesting weapon types, but at the same time, it'd be kind of corny to have everyone walking around looking like the lead protagonist of a FF.

FFXI/XIV have a much more realistic style, though I can definitely see whips and some class of guns.

I wouldn't be crazy about Buster Sword sized weapons being carried by every third person, the likes of which you might be familiar in Monster Hunter.

I hope they get creative with the weapons in this game. I mean we have people fighting with swords and axes at the same time we have aircraft might as well make it look like the guy holding the pig sticker could actualy do something :) besides I want to see some sweet looking lances in this game!

I tend to share Momotaru's viewpoint. I really don't want to see Cloud look-alikes at every turn. I would prefer more realistic-looking weapons if possible (such as the weapons found in Final Fantasy XI). That's not to say they have to be dull, though!

That being said, I would love to see whips à la Rydia in this game. :D I also look forward to seeing what kind of guns they implement; I was a big fan of guns in FFXI when I played my Ranger.

I loved how Corsair was in terms of a class that specialized in guns. It offered boosts to the over all party dynamic's, it buff up enfeeb spells, and could dish out some decent damage.
However, I would like to be more of a "gun mage" class then a "Luck of the draw class". It is part of the appeal but aspects of it could just be fine tuned more.

I would love to seem hammers used more, maybe even a huge two-handed hammer would be fun. I like the idea of whip, and instruments returning.

Perhaps Books as a weapon for mages, like mp +5% int+3 Magic +10 or something...

The last thing I would love to see in terms of weapons would be a bit more customization like they have in FFXI now, however with less of a random feel to it. I don't want to try and custom my very rare weapon on a dd, only to get like +2 int, and now it's useless.

Hopefully we'll see some interesting spins on weapons, well still keeping the "campy" feel of them down. I really like a more realistic touch to my weapons. Hopefully this time we can get an Auto attack function for ranged attacks.

I just want guns, I will still play as an archer too though. Or rather, I hope you have to master archer before advancing to guns, but that's just me. I like that idea. Other weapons I like are scythes, if I were to go a melee type class, I would use which ever class that could use scythes.

I really enjoy the realistic looking weapons. The cheesy cartoony looking weapons in some games (WoW for example) always got on my nerves.

I think they are going to be plenty creative with them judging by what they did in FFXI and what I have seen so far... Lantern Shield anyone??!

lol, with the lantern shield it sounds like you better be ready for some crazy maintenance. But i definitely agree, realistic is better than randomly over sized. I really like the details they've added to the released weapons. The retractable Quillans on the hawktail, and the lantern shield as a whole. Not to mention the graphical detail. It looks like they pulled out all the stops this time.

reading the thread i notice some people really want to see guns but this worries me a bit. if guns are in the game they have to be slow, such as the flint lock. with guns in the game bows become more useless but with something older like flint lock then there are pros and cons to both. whips would be great but to what kind of class? tamer would work as long as you over look the story of the beast master from XI. some kind of music/weapon would be good for the return of the bard that is loved by all.
Yoohohohohoo!
