In-game ads? Ok or big no-no?

How do you feel about the possibility of in-game ads in Final Fantasy XIV? Would it totally ruin your gaming experience if you saw a giant Mountain Dew ad plastered on the side of a building or an advertisement for a new game?

I think Square's above that. If they do in-game ads, I'd hope they get more imaginative about it, like the way real products were included in MGS3. That was awesome. It makes some sense in that game world though to be able to eat Calorie Mate, even if it might not have existed in the 60's.
In XIV, I don't see a clever way to fit in any advertisements.... We'll be paying for it monthly anyway, so there's no need for it.

in game ads i wouldnt mind if it was a logo image cycle during loading screens because no one cares what you see there. if doing that reduce month fee or improve the game in a noticeble then i couldnt complain to much as long it didnt not break gameplay at all
Yoohohohohoo!

If they did it in some imaginative way, I don't care. A mountain dew ad in FFXIV would be horrid. In fact, not many products I could think of that they could integrate into FFXIV. But in game ads don't bug me. They don't have to be intrusive. They could be like having a Coke vending machine in a game instead of "SODA". But FFXIV would be difficult to include ads.
But on another, non capitalism way to take this conversation. What if shops had their own ads and sales and what not? Think of it using FFXI as an example (since I can't use what little I know of Eorzea), you're running down Bastok and the stores inside the goldsmithing guild send out an area wide message about some sale that players could take advantage of. I think THAT would be amazing.
"Bronze Ingot only 120G! Buy in the next hour (ingame) or this sale is gone!"
