For those of you who played Final Fantasy XI and also intend to play Final Fantasy XIV, do you wish to relive your FFXI experience or to take a completely different path? More specifically, do you intend to play the same race and job(s)/discipline(s) or do you want to try something completely new/different and foreign to what you became accustomed to in FFXI?

I was a Tarutaru in FFXI and keep telling myself I want to try either a Roegadyn or Miqo'te in FFXIV, but whenever I see a picture of a tiny Lalafell battling a huge creature it starts to make me change my mind. I'm not really sure if I will be able to decide prior to actually installing the game and getting to the character creation screen. :P

As for my job/discipline, I think I would like to try something different. My main job was a Ranger in FFXI, so...

How about you?

I'll be doing what I should have done in the first place...

I went Hume in XI (boring). I'm finding all the races really cool looking, but I just don't think I could see myself playing as a Roegadyn or Elezen (too tall). So of course Hyur seems appropriate, but a little stale as well... Lalafell it is!

As for job, I'm interested in checking out Discipline of the Land. In XI, my only experience was in Black and White Mage, so I'm considering switching to something physical in the back of my mind... Not quite sure. Will need more info!

My experience in XI was short lived, but for a few reasons. I just couldn't get into the game, I wasn't a big fan of the constant grinding or the combat system. I hoping the new combat system will be more enjoyable. I played as an Elven WAR in XI and probably wont be taking the same route again. I want to be some sort of ranged class, and so far, that's archer, and I do plan on sticking to that. But as for race, It's so hard to decide. I originally wanted Elezen. But then I got thinking about Hyur, I have never been a Human race before in a RPG, if I have had a choice anyways. But I got looking how awesome Lalafell look (Thanks to Momo's thread discussing those screen shots.) so now it's getting hard to decide. I also would love to be a Miqo'te, it's just getting over being a female character, also something I don't like to do in MMO's. So for me to decide, it will come down to the clans, and stats. That all being said, it will be a completely different experience then XI was for me.

Well i enjoyed FFXI a lot and i kinda want to relive my experience, at least most of it. I really liked the battle system but not so much how ong it usualy took to form a party.

Well, good news for me, and probably for some of you too.... I recently speaked with a friend whos still playing FFXI and knows a gamemaster whos involved in somethign with FFXIV (i dont know exactly what hes doing) aaaand turns out that FFXIV is currently going on a alpha stage, with still a lot of bugs, but as of right now the game looks like its going to be amazing and also itll be like FFXI in many ways, actually i heard that people from the development team of FFXIV call it "FFXI HD" lol.

Well as for race i really want male miqote or if the new race is friggin awesome perhaps that... if there is a new one but if that falls through elvaan and i'll probably take full advantage of the new system and be well rounded in a few aspects.

I was hume RDM... sounds like FFXIV is RDM less (;_;) if RDM was in FFXIV I definitely would have relived that experience. RDM has been the greatest class I have ever played in any MMO. I felt like I could go anywhere, do anything and I was self sufficient. I largely have a problem being a good community member in a LS or Guild. I don't want to sacrifice too much time over a game, so most communities don't find me a valuable member.

I will probably be a Hyda character again. I don't find them that boring. But Lalafell are cool (I liked Tarus as well). Maybe I'll be one of them. Honestly, I want to know more about the disciplines before I make a decision. I want to pick my class I mainly want to be then will alter my play style/character around that.

Hello all (my first post)

I am hoping for a lot from XIV, but I hope it retains quite a bit from XI. but yeah think this will be a continuation of my XI experience, Sam and BST (If there is BST)

Hello, LordDaunte! :msnwave: Welcome to the site! Please make yourself at home and introduce yourself in our Introductions section if/when you get a chance.

That being said, there's no word yet on whether or not such jobs/disciplines will exist (though they did say no pet classes will be present when the game is first released), but I'm sure there will be something similar. ;)

I was a Galka in FFXI, and I will be a Roegadyn in FFXIV. I bet no one saw that coming :)

However, in terms of class choice, I will go Disciple of Magic from the start and level up as a healer. In FFXI, I only played a BLM on my Galka to level up for warp, and that was using astral rings a friend lent me for the time being. I'm so happy Roegadyns can actually take up magic classes decently without top notch gearing up to do so.

Yes it's going to be exciting to see how they balance the races more with the classes unlike FFXI. I was in a high level party with a Galka WHM once. Despite the fact that he was an amazing player, he just couldn't keep up. I had to step in too many times. I hope Galka make better mages and likewise, Tarus (still getting used to new names) make better melee or tanks :D
