Yes, it just wasn't shown on the live stream. Expect it to either surface sometime soon or to be added to the official site at some point. ;)

Here's an illustrated time line of the FFXI updates to come:

Neat event, I won't be entering the FFXI world again, but I enjoyed the live music and look forward to more FFXIV info in the future!

Uematsu-san should be a National Treasure. :msnpleased:

After three hours of excitement, VanaFest 2010 has finally come to a close. We (err, I) were busy making updates throughout the entire event and will write a follow-up article in the days to come once details have been verified and after (hopefully) Final Fantasy XIV's new trailer makes its way online.

What an exciting day for Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV fans alike!

Very exciting news regarding FFXIV today :D

Looks like the ball is finally rolling for the beta, so 2010 does seem more likely for the release window as stated before. I'm mainly looking forward to the new trailer shown today, should surface sometime this week on the official site if not leaked somewhere

btw congrats to those who attended, who would of thought you got automatically placed under the first wave of beta testers upon attending, pays to be a fan :D

Argh, I missed it all to, and I wasn't even sleeping for that long. Although that is about what I was expecting out of it (FFXIV part anyways). Looking forward to that new trailer. And with the beta starting we should get a whole bunch of info flowing around then. Things are starting to look up for XIV!

And thanks Eorzea for the hard work. :D

Yeah, I just read up on the updates and yeah... I think I'll be returning to Vanadiel ASAP (I was semi-wanting to play recently but this sorta kicked me over the border flying w/ my desires to play again). I think I regained my motivation to play again. I'm curious to see as to how SE will rebalance the jobs once the cap is set to 99. I'm hoping they give monk extra martial arts and extra skill to compensate pup getting A rank in hand to hand as well.

Yeah, it sure is tempting to go back, but I don't have the time...

And remember... the level cap increases aren't going to begin until June.

I've been playing Star Trek online but I think I'm going back on FFXI again. Level 99? Server mergers? AWESOME! I hope they merge Leviathan. It's quiet with everything below level 75. I tried to go on there but it took too long to do anything. STO is fun, but not a lot of content.

I just need to figure out how to make money on FFXI (always was my biggest challenge) and I'll be set :D

BETA CLARIFICATION
Unfortunately, yesterday's information left some people confused. The folks at andriasang.com translated a recent report from famitsu.com to try and help clear things up:

Quote

As reported at Famitsu.com, Tanaka was asked when the game's alpha test and beta test would take place. This information, he said, will be announced on March 11, when the beta tester site goes live. They're currently making adjustments which could change the date around.

Tanaka was asked about the alpha test in particular. How long will the alpha test, which of course takes place before the beta test, run? His response was that Square Enix will decide that based off user response.

We're still not entirely sure of who will be able to take part in the alpha and beta. At the event, Square Enix said that all VanaFest attendees would be able to take part in both. Famitsu.com's report says that FFXI players will also be able to take part in the alpha. The Famitsu.com report also says that the winners of the first drawing for beta testers will be announced starting March 1.

Still a bit confusing, yes, but perhaps a little less so. :D

owmaigod owmaiGOD OMAGOD!!! O.O I dreamed it, but I never beleaved it to happen, 99... in XI!!

... I am sooooo getting off my XI break near the summer, but I seriously doubt that the merger is gonna improve server activity. I mean I'm sure your still gonna be forced to sit and shout in a town for 1-3 hours before you get the party to go and do a desired quest/mission... they need to introduce a system for scheduled attendees and teleport pearls to the BCNM or force spawn NM locations for the quest in question. Maybe a Bulletin board in FFXI for people to post what they wanna do, and rewards for those who help who have completed it once before... oh well, atleast I'll be keeping busy with trying to cap my already caped jobs again.

Nice to see that things are moving forward though I find it strange that there was more info on XI than XIV but oh well lol. At least beta is starting so more info will start to come out, very exciting.

Well, it was a FFXI event, so I don't think it's so strange. :D

But yes, it's nice to see things are moving forward.
