ALPHA TEST
A second chance!

Still bitter over not being selected to participate in the first wave of alpha/beta testing? Here's your chance!

FFXIClopedia and ZAM have partnered with Square Enix to offer another chance at getting selected to take part in the first round of alpha/beta testing. Individuals interested in this opportunity must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an active Final Fantasy XI subscriber.
  • Have completed the Final Fantasy XIV alpha/beta test application [here].

Here are the links!

If you meet the criteria, why not give it a go? ;)

Better hurry, though! This opportunity ends on March 7th, 2010 at 11:59 PM PST.

Hopefully Beyond Vana'diel (yes, that's us!) will be able to offer such opportunities to our community in the future.

Are you reading, Square Enix?
Probably not. Not yet, anyway!

:onion69:

Best of luck to all, and a big thanks to all parties involved for the additional opportunity.

Why only FFXI users?! I guess they do know the ins and outs of the game, and will give proper feedback. Hopefully the Beta test will expand to let people such as myself play. After all, Square Enix want to attract a new fanbase (as well as having FFXI players carry over), but how are they going to do this if they ONLY allow FFXI players?

You made your point, and it's very valid! FFXI users will be able to pwn the bugs way harder than your average joe. Plus it gives the dedicated FFXI users what they deserve for playing so long. That's why they want FFXI players for the ALPHA and more open for everyone in the beta.
Don't blame FFXIV when you drop out of school and live at home with ma and pa.

Both points of view can be argued, but I think it simply comes down to Squenix wanting to give its loyal customers a chance to test out their new product first. They will undoubtedly open things up to others little by little as time goes on and receive feedback from a wider audience with a variety of gaming backgrounds.

I guess I didn't think about the loyal paying FFXI customers. After paying so much a month for so many years I suppose it's only fair that they get something in return! To be honest I'm not sure I would want to participate in a beta anyway. Here's hoping that Square Enix make FFXIV free for the first week as a download from Playstation Store. FFXI had a weeks free trial, right?

Aww, i have never played any FF games since FF7 lol. I'm i a fan, well i like to think i am. I am just not the type of person to put a lot of time into a game and then switch to a new MMO as soon as it comes out. But this time however...idk. FF14 just looks to good so far to pass up. Plus all these new MMO that have came out in the resent past are just dull and boring after the first few months. Does this mean that i will not have a chance to be selected for a closed beta?

Bella Vi, no one has any idea what SE look for in a Beta tester.. whether it is your computer specs, your loyalty to the series or what kind of shoes you wear.. you have as good a chance as any of us for all anyone knows xD
