Simple question. Just curious.

There are many things I still like about FFXI and I would really enjoy playing it from time to time, but unfortunately I don't have the amount of free time required to get much accomplished and my overall interest/desire to play is no longer high enough to warrant paying the monthly fee. If it were free, however, I'm sure I'd play once a week or so.

How about you?

The only reason I don't play it is I wouldn't get on enough to warrent paying a monthly fee at the moment...and due to I had so much done in FFXI i'd get uber annoyed that I hardly got anything done and be paying for it.

If it became free though, I could go on it when I wanted not have to worry that i'm not making full use of it whilst i'm paying for it ._. and I could go and see old freinds again

So yep i'd go back if it was free to play lmao

I would definitely jump on the FFXI bandwagon if it became F2P! It would give me an oppurtunity to see how online FF games work (well, MMO's in general, as I haven't played any) and help me decide whether or not I want to buy FFXIV. Ahh, I wish FFXI released on PS3 like it did with the 360. I probably would have bought it and tried it out already.

After some deliberation, I had to choose "No, I don't think so"

Reason being, aside from not needing a timesink, I'm perfectly comfortable right now, waiting for XIV.


Even were I to play again, it would take me until XIV's release before I could really get into the meat of the game. Knowing my play style, I'd probably just be reaching the point I was when I last left it. Playing every so often, as Eorzea describes, is tempting, but my aspirations for an MMO have evolved since I played XI 7 years ago (oh god.. what have I been doing these last 7 years... 7 years?! Oh my .... Can't..be....) And what a grind... It was enjoyable only when there was foreseeable reward (Chocobo License).. Once I attained that, I found little reason to jump back into 2 hour party search and 6 hours grind sessions... I was also fresh into college, and couldn't afford to be slacking (though I was quite an accomplished slacker, believe me).

When I originally jumped in, XI just came to PS2 in North America. My mind was blown just hearing about the game, and it was graphically competent for a long while after.. But, anymore, I think I'd need just a little more eye-candy. Also, the vast environments are just a little too barren, even with a highly populated server, for my current tastes.. and of course, the reasons in the preceding paragraph.


I'll be here, waiting for XIV.

As much as I would love to play XI again and for free, I also would have to say no. I just don't have enough time to put into that game. I'm hoping XIV will be more casual for players like me who can't play all the time. I'll also be busy playing XIII for months, cuz I'm slow.

With the changes they're making recently I'm curious as to which direction the game will head to. I'm definitely coming back but it won't be til next month (getting myself a PS3 this month so won't be on FFXI til after the PS3 rush dies down).

I said that i'd go back if it became free to play...

now i'm actually finding myself questioning myself, I just thought if it became free to play there would be so many thirteen year olds running around prob spamming shouts in lower jeuno I'm not sure if I could cope..

Also all the free mmo's i've played never had GM's as it was free....hacking was terrible when I was there so without GM's I have a feeling hacking and also RMT's would just ruin every server...ffxi wouldn't be as I remember it...though it was loosing its glory with me at the end with all the hacking and rmting that SE never seemed to do much over imo

Probably not. I've long since put that game behind me, and besides, XIV is right around the corner.

I put yes, but to clarify (since I'm still on FFXI) I would continue FFXI alongside FFXIV. Yes, FFXI is a time sink. But I've enjoyed spending the past month just coming on and doing a few things for an hour or two. Heck, I spent two weeks recently just coming on to check plants and nothing else. If I want to party, I will do it once in a while.

Also, convincing some of my Family members to come back would be easy, since it would be free. So I would form a static with them. I'm sure we could all be satisfied with a 2 hour at a time party if it meant we'd all log on and be ready to party at that moment.

I would play. Since when I wanted to play again, the paying method was the reason that stop me. Iwould be happy to see some old friends again.

Why must you taunt me with these ideas. I'd be back instantly. I'm just totally screwed by the economy and can't find a job. So all I do is school and scrape a few dollars together to get by. Being 20 right before 21 sucks.

Hmmm... I was probably going to say yes until Quinn raised a good point about lots of immature youngsters running around the game, etc. I'm not sure how the game would turn out if it went F2P.

If FFXI was F2P I would possibly try it out again, not sure though... It would be nice to play my character again, chat to old friends and see what changes have been made so far in a casual manner rather than trying to squeeze FFXI into my spare time because I had to pay for it. There's no way I'd get back into an "end game" LS or anything though, I'd just have fun with it.

The second time I quit FFXI was because I just didn't have the time to play long hours in those types of LS, etc. and I just didn't see the point in paying the fee to stand around and do nothing when I played.

The only reason I ever thought about playing FFXI again was purely due to FFXIV anticipation, even though I did really enjoy the game. I'm really not sure if I would play again, so I voted "No".

I can't wait to get my hands on XIV, it looks too good!

i would resume to play FFXI,but i heard FFXIV will come out soon.i think i will spend more time on FFXIV,cause i always like new things and challenge,FFXIV seem to be attractive!
