There are no doubt an endless supply of online resources for studying/learning Japanese, but this thread will highlight some of our members' favorites. I'll start and the rest of you can contribute whatever resources you have personally found to be helpful. I will update this post with quality resources.
Please don't just list random sites/tools/resources you have no experience using.
Remember, this thread is for listing resources only. Should you wish to discuss a particular resource in detail, please create a new thread.
That being said...
DICTIONARIES
SPACEALC
Jim Breen's WWWJDIC
rikaichan - A very useful dictionary extension for Firefox.
SRS / FLASHCARDS
SRS stands for "spaced repetition software" [info]
Anki - Wonderful and free! Likely the most popular SRS program available.
KANJI
Reviewing the Kanji - A great resource for students using James Heisig's Remembering the Kanji.
PODCASTS
JapanesePod101.com
MOTIVATION
All Japanese All The Time - Rather extreme, but makes some good points and has some good resources.

A great learning site with SRS properties is Smart.fm.
I've just starting using it again recently, and as long as you're checking back frequently, I'm sure it's an excellent aid for study. Search for the official Japanese courses, though there might be a number of user assembled content worth checking out as well.... additionally, you can study all sorts of subjects, beyond Japanese.

Yamasa Online Kanji Dictionary - stroke order lookup
I use this place all the time. You have to know the reading of the character so you can type it in in Japanese, but it will give you the (animated!) stroke order of the kanji you search. I've only come across a few really obscure ones that aren't in the database. Useful for quick lookups when the proper stroke order is not very obvious. It usually has a handwriting example too...
Example: 飛

Ah, I've used Yamasa quite a bit!
If you're 'Remembering the Kanji' w/ Heisig, it's helpful even if you don't know the reading of the characters, and in that case, you'd search the English meaning.

Rofl, all this time I hadn't thought to check out the actual E<->J dictionary part of Yamasa since I usually just pop up WWWJDIC for that... If I had known that it links the kanji in dictionary entries to their stroke animations, and I don't actually have to search the kanji specifically... should have known. xD Thanks Momotaru. xD
I looked at some of my older bookmarks and found a pretty good one I hadn't used in a while...
Renshuu.org lets you customize vocabulary quizzes based on JLPT vocabulary, vocab from prominent textbooks, etc. There's a grammar library with examples and you can schedule tests... I believe it keeps track of questions you miss, etc.
So I guess it's a little like a browser version of Anki, except that most of the questions are multiple choice. It might be limited in usefulness, as you can't make your own cards like in Anki... as far as I know. However it does hide answers initially so there's still that sense of coming up with the answer on your own before "flipping the flashcard over" and looking at the choices. I guess there's a subscription version with more features now... that wasn't there when I was using it. o_O Anyways, I've found it useful at times.
