It's that time of year again when the cherry trees all throughout Japan are in full bloom. This is my fourth year to see them and it never gets old. They are in their prime right now in southern Japan and absolutely beautiful. Stunning, really. In fact, I took a few quick pictures today while walking around. Scroll down!

Do any of you have cherry trees that blossom around where you live?

They're so beautiful.

We don't have many cherry trees down the south of england where I live...it is rather rare to see one let alone find one during blossom season. I plan to go to japan in the next couple of years to go to the cherry blossom festival its always been a dream of mine to see all the wonderful trees and to see all the magnificent kimonos.

In the only game I play second life they always have cherry blossom festivals and we wear kimonos for a week..my japanese friends have decorated their sims (land they own) with hundreds of cherry trees..they have loads of stalls around and small games where you can catch goldfish..I know its not real but its the best I can get at the moment until I go to Japan.

Umm I wonder if it would be ok to take a few pics of the festivals in the game as my japanese friends take it very seriously so its wonderful to see them make the effort. The pics would be about the cherry blossom festival..would that be ok? best I can do at the mo but I love sakura so much I really want to be involed with this topic so badly...pretty please :onion8: huge puppy dog eyes lol

Also during the cherry blossom festival is that the same time that they do the tea fesival..(i think its called that)...where the young girls and women learn and make tea for their loved ones?

Yeah we have a ton of them here in Washington, DC! I have 5 trees right outside my office window (scattered through the parking lot Posted Image) As you know they were a gift from Japan and they are all over... we even have a cherry blossom festival here too.

I'm sure it's not near the same as in Japan, I'd love to see what they look like in their native land Posted Image

Also, I like the name "Sakura" much better than cherry blossom. But maybe that's just me Posted Image

Those are some great pictures. :)

One of my goals is to go see the cherry blossoms in Japan while their in full bloom. What area do you live in? Is it more rural or urban?

This is my fav place in the whole of second life its on my friends land and its a room hes created where you play a piano and it has a cherry blossom tree with falling petals coming from it....it has a place where under a spot light you can slow dance with someone if you wish lol...Yuki has piano music streaming into the room so it actually looks like you are playing the piano...its one of the most romantic places in Second life I think...and if my japanese friends arn't in Yuki's cafe then I mainly sit in this room alone and listen to the music. Yuki is a brilliant builder he has such a creative mind...if you ever join second life I reacommed "Go Slow Cafe" and then you get to see the wonderful Sakura :onion7:

This is a picture taken in an old friends sim they change this section of the sim depending on what time of year it is...so at the moment its sakura everywhere hehe...they had a week long festival here and I had to help and dressed in a kimono...if I find the old picture i'll place it up...6 girls all dressed in kimonos dancing geisha dances (think it was geisha dances)

So yep those are my second life cherry blossom festival pictures...I know its only a game but like I said its super rare to find a cherry tree around where I live...and its like hen's teeth to find one in blossom...If I did i'd prob stare at it all day hehe

Eorzea I have to say those are amazing photos...and to see so many people sitting and having lunch under the cherry trees is just wonderful...your so lucky to be able to see this in person..all you need now is a slight gust of wind just so a few petals fall...talk about magical if you were walking through them at the time hehe ^_^

The pictures are from a park just outside of downtown Tenjin (Fukuoka city). So... urban I suppose. It's the perfect size city for my tastes, but I realize many/most people would rather be in/go to a place like Tokyo or Osaka. Personally, I much prefer my area of Japan. ;)

Thank you for the photo compliments! I have more, but these will do for now. Keep in mind that this was on a Monday afternoon, too. Had I been there on a Saturday or Sunday it would have been packed, I'm sure!

I think it's really interesting that Second Life has things like that set up for everyone to enjoy. That's great! Thanks for sharing, Quinn!
