What do you think about male Mithra?
Should they be a playable race in Final Fantasy XIV? Would there be any cons to making them playable?

A question to those of you who played as Mithra in Final Fantasy XI:
If male Mithra were to become playable in FFXIV, would you remain female or switch to male? Assume stats are the same.

I was a bit miffed that they didn't put male mithra NPCs into XI personaly. The lore said they did exist but were generaly too weak to go adventureing.. then I got to Kazham and not a single male to be founs, not even cleaning a floor or sitting on a bench.

They did say they would be similar races but not the same, I would like to see at least a few significant visual differances as well as social differances between the XI races and the XIV races.

Male and Female versions of all races would be desirable.

But I'd like to point out how much more the races seem to resemble eachother.. Not as far out and otherworldy anymore.. It's as if at one point recently in the history of the world, that these races were once one species. They all seem a little more human like, which feels a little more real.

It may feel a little more real, but is that really a good thing? We do want a fantasy world after all. I can see positives and negatives to both the FFXI versions and FFXIV versions, but until I actually play FFXIV I can't say which I prefer.

I will be disappointed, though, if Tarutaru lose their cuteness. :-/

Yeh, I wouldn't mine seeing some more races.. Maybe something somewhat reptilian?

Don't worry, TaruTaru won't lose their cuteness.. I think that little fellow at the table is adorable, and there's plenty more where that came from I'm sure.


A few distinctions from FFXI for the races seem to be:

-Galka has less of a green hue and no longer has a tail
-Mithra and TaruTaru don't have colored noses
-Also, Mithra and TaruTaru seem overall to have migrated more toward a human look. Before they had a bit more of an animal look.

So which look for the Mithra and Tarutaru do you prefer? More human or more animal? Do you think it's a step in the right direction to make them look more human, or is it a mistake?

I would like to see some sort of reptilian race, too. Good idea.

well male mithras be good idea if they implant them in 14 that way it keep those manthras away.

I think male Mithra would be pretty cool, I would also like to see the Viera make an appearance :D

Considering that the game is in another universe, it may be possible for male Mithra to exist in gameplay.

Their was a male Mithra in FFXI, but it was a NPC in a Wings of the Goddess mission, a real kick in the nuts for those wishing for them in FFXI :(

Zidane and Kuja are really cool looking male mithras and I wanted a red haired male mithra like trance kuja. The double sided javelin is a pretty kickass weapon too. So I want to play as a male mithra.

I might pick male elvaan though or maybe even galka cause they look pretty cool too. Male mithra might be my number 1 or 2 choice though if added.

DEFINITELY! I really hope they have both sexes of all the races this time around! The mithra were the High Dexterity race (which was awesome) but I was too scared to play as a girl :-/ LOL

I really want male Mithra. or Miqo'te as they're called now. I would defiantly be one if they were to announce. I am even contemplating being a female character, but I doubt it.
