this thread is posted in General forum but I found this sub and it looked to be the right place to post the thread


Last Names are in FFXIV and I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who don't know if they want one or what to use if they have to have one. So i thought it would be interesting if we came up with some really great last names for the clans. people who like to role play can use this name as a house name and we could create a back story for them if people get really into it.

Here are some ideas of names per clan please add more:

Wildwood Elezen: Silvabito

Duskwight Elezen: Specus

Plainsfolk: Teran

Dunesfolk: Solitu

Midland Hyur: Philo

Highland Hyur: Torva

Seawolves: Lumare

Hellsguard: Igniltis

Seekers of the Sun: Pheto

Keepers of the Moon: Susalu

So are these names determined by the general feel you get from each clan?

But for myself, I'm definitely going to want to make something unique and individual.

It is a good idea, but I'm also curious as to how you would like the names to be chosen. Is it simply by what people feel would suit each clan, or are there other guidelines/restrictions/checklists to consider?

I made the names by either using a Latin word, combining two Latin words, or using bits of two Latin words that I felt represented the clan and that's how I got the different names.

I don't expect people to go to that length but come up with name ideas that you like. They could be general names that go across races or for one for both clans of a race but you should mention what you plan the name to be for IE general, all Elezen, or Wildwood only.

Sounds like a cool idea to me as it seems there are a lot of people who are having trouble coming up with a last name this could be a nice alternative

No one has added a name, but im not surprised this section is not looked at much and names are hard so maybe i should make up guidelines(like rules but you dont have to obey them) for naming to make it easier to think of one.


#1 the name does not need to be deep and complex. last names are great if they just sound good.

#2 you dont have to invent the name. a good name is a good name post it if you like it.

#3 the dont have to be realistic names. names like Stonehide are not realistic but still are good

most importantly

#4 have fun! it doesnt have to be the greatest name post it. this thread is to figure out a name per clan that we all like to use so if you dont post one you like chances are we might not post one you want to use.

I like this idea, I think it'd be cool to have a group of us with a similar last name. I vote for the last name 'Smith'.
