In Topic: An Important Announcement on the Future of FINAL FANTASY XIV (10/14/2011)
Oct 22, 2011 - 9:02 PM
I DIDN'T BELIEVE IT WHEN MOMO TOLD ME. HOLY (CENSORED) IT'S LOOKING REAL SPIFFY! I'm actually very excited by the initiative in the S.E. studios. Honestly anything short of this WOULD NOT be sustainable. In fact I'm hoping they expand on this.
Great Ideas:
1. A complete redesign of current repetitive maps
2. The implementation of a new graphics engine
3. A new server system designed for increased speed and performance
4. A fully renewed user interface
5. The expansion of in-game community content
A Server System Built to Support a Worldless Model
- Now my take on this is that the servers will have additional "neutral" servers not unlike battlegrounds and such from other games where you would see players from other servers. In this respect you aren't playing with everyone all the time but as far as I can see the entire user database will be available in game so any of your pals from other servers you may not have met in game or however things work out, you will be able to both enter the neutral server and play together. I wonder if you will be playing alone or if you will "Stay" on your world while still being able to see whoever else is in your party, if they should be from another server.
Fixing the UI to be uber fast and support addons like a real game should. Not to mention SEXXXXXYYYYY
Addition of PvP (have to hear more about that)
And I think all our jaws dropped when we heard this: Addition of Miqo'te males, Highland Hyur and Roegadyn females for version 2.0.
Bad Ideas:
Abolishing seamless areas to allow for more dynamic map design. - CMON GUYS WHAT THE BLEEP! Seemless areas = good Instance areas = bad. No mmo in 2012 should have any of that nonsense anymore. Change your minds. You're redoing the engine, do it right!
P.S. No, sorry I won't be hanging around for the subscription phase, or at least until things are really starting to change up. Got Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Arkham City, and Tera to keep me fully occupied outside of school and work.
